I have furnished rooms available for rent in my totally unhaunted house. Yes, you heard right. Not so much as an ectoplasmic flicker.
This place is 30mins walk from Westfield Chermside and The Prince Charles Hospital, with other shops closer by. There's a bus stop 5 metres from the back gate with easy access to UQ and QUT by bus.
We're a generally pretty quiet household, boring but friendly. We like board games, card games, quietly nursed alcoholic beverages and keeping things tidy.
The common areas are professionally cleaned every fortnight. The lawns are done regularly. The garden is a lost cause.
The house itself is a renovated two storey brick building, erected somewhere between the late Cretaceous and the invention of the internet. And now, bullet points:
- The house has four bedrooms, two bathrooms (one upstairs, one downstairs) and a separate toilet
- The kitchen is new-ish and has a dishwasher/oven/small mummified cactus and just about any cookware you could want
- Large living and dining areas
- A TV room
- Semi-enclosed front balcony
- Decent sized backyard
FAQs - I get asked these a lot. Let me spare you the questions:
Q: Can you accommodate my cats/dogs/lizards (seriously)
A: Afraid not. I love dogs and tolerate cats, but I've got lots of small fragile collectables and a housemate with allergies. Sorry.
Q: I can't afford to pay the bond, can I...
A: No. Nothing personal, but it's not negotiable.
Q: I can't afford to pay the rent, can I...
A: Seriously? This place is on the cheaper side already.
Q: I'm planning on staying for a few weeks only...
A: I would suggest a hotel.
Q: I read and comprehended your ad. I don't own a pet, I can afford to pay the rent and bond, I'd like to stay for more than a year and I've got my sh*t together, could I rent your room?
A: F*ck yes. Marry me.
I own the house.
I'm a 29 year old male, working as a doctor at the local hospital. Yes, I'm a workaholic. No, I don't know what that rash on your arm means. No, I don't want to see it.
Ethan is the other guy. He does stuff, I tend not to ask too many personal questions, like 'what do you enjoy?' or 'who are you?'. He hasn't eaten my crayons yet. I find this gratifying.
We're both geeks, basically. No, it is nothing like Big Bang Theory.
