Hi! Large bedroom in large house in great area available 8 January (flexible) for the right person. Pool! Chickens! Lots of space! We're open to couples, internationals, parents, LGBTs, professionals, tradespeople, etc - looking for a good fit. We've previously had a lovely Dutch carpenter stay weeknights for a year, a small Indonesian family stay for a year and a French couple stay for a month - we're open to all situations. It's a large house with upstairs, downstairs and outside living areas, so plenty of space for everyone!

THE HOUSE...
It's a large Queenslander house - with 5 bedrooms (3 upstairs, 2 downstairs), 2 bathrooms (1 up, 1 down), 1 full kitchen (upstairs) and a kitchenette with a fridge and separate dining space (downstairs), 2 lounge/living rooms (1 up, 1 down), 2 verandahs, a large garden, a pool and a piano.

The downstairs area is like a large modern 2-bedroom unit: there are 2 large bedrooms separated by their own bathroom, a very large separate living/dining area, a private entrance (so, you can come and go from downstairs directly), a kitchenette (with fridge, microwave, toaster, hot water jug, etc.), an outdoor dining table and direct access to a swimming pool.

We have some pets who live outdoors only - an old, calm dog (Border Collie Kelpie cross) who doesn't bark and 4 chickens.

THE AREA...
We are located in a quiet street with parks, a community garden, a creek, an old-fashioned bowls club and a great little cafe close by. Within a 10-minute walk there is a fish & chip shop, two more cafes, a fine dining restaurant and some bush walking tracks. Within a 15-minute walk you have Coles and all the offerings of Toowong.

THE ROOM...
A large bedroom (3.4m x 3.8m) is becoming available downstairs in January 2018. It is currently furnished with a queen bed with a quality latex mattress (always used with a mattress protector), bedside table, desk, lamp, bookself and wardrobes. There is a ceiling fan as well as sun-blocker curtains.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT...
Going to the CBD/Valley? under 30 min (416/470 bus)
Going to UQ? under 30 min (414 bus)
Going to the suburbs? We're close to 598/9 Great Circle Line (direct bus to Ashgrove, Indooroopilly, etc)
We're also a 15-minute walk to central Toowong where you can catch the train and many other bus routes to the City, UQ, etc.
If you cycle, it's also under 30 minutes to get to both the CBD and UQ.

ABOUT US...
We are a small family unit - a female Australian couple in our early 40s with a 4-year-old daughter (we live upstairs), and a female Australian part-time chef/student also in her 40s (who lives downstairs). We all love trivia and do The Age quiz most days.

I'm originally from Brisbane but have lived many years overseas (in Japan, Philippines, France, England). I'm a public servant (looking at a career change), have a community management role and play bass guitar in band.
My partner is a civil engineer, from Melbourne, and loves rugby (former player, now coach), keeping fit and reading The Age newspaper.
Our daughter is a friendly, active 4-year-old kid who attends kindergarten and does rugby, ballet and French classes.
Our friend and housemate Kay is also originally from Melbourne and loves cinema and TV, music, literature and gastronomy.

YOU...
We are looking for a single person or a couple (or a even a parent with a small child) - someone who doesn't watch a lot of TV and doesn't mind not having a TV in the living room, keeps common areas tidy, doesn't smoke, and is happy to live with an affable 4-year-old kid and 3 women in their 40s!

INTERESTED?
Send a message and let us know a little bit about yourself. Also feel free to ask any questions!
We'd love to hear from you.
