The room is medium sized with a large window and large ceiling high built in wardrobes. It fits a bed and a desk and is away from the communal areas, so nice and quiet. It is unfurnished.
We are very conveniently located close to the Edinburgh Gardens, bustling Brunswick and Smith streets and only a short bike ride to the city, Melbourne Uni, RMIT or ACU.
It's a fabulous renovated terrace with luxuries such as dishwashers, washing machines and very efficient central heating. We also have a lovely courtyard that can be used for garden dinner parties in the summer. Parking is on street and a permit can be acquired from the council.
We are a bunch of mid-late 20 year olds, working hard and very independent but enjoy hanging out together in the common spaces with casual dinners at least once a week. We are looking for someone who like us is clean, considerate, independent but enjoys sharing a meal or going out with the housies occasionally.
There are 3 of us, including a couple. Our pun-meister housemate (does not live with her partner) studies science-arts as well as working part time in a lab. One half of the couple is studying a masters in data analytics and works full time in sales while the other half is a junior doctor and is looking forward to summer weekends full of hiking and camping.
We are all very well house trained. Being busy we are considerate with noise and mess and value this in other housemates. The vibe of the house is a good balance of independent and communal living. It's a great fit for people who need their space but also are up for sharing a meal and some stimulating conversations.
We don't share food but we do cook for each other most weeks. We do have a cleaning roster which seems to help us know what to do each week to keep the place looking reasonable. We have a house account that we pay $22/week into and then automatically have our bills and internet fee deducted. This works well as no one has to chase people for bill money. Every so often we go through the account and ensure that any left over money is distributed back to people and have found that $20/week is the standard rate (after 4 years of research :P).
Our landlord is a lovely gentleman who the new housemate will get to meet and will require you to be on the lease. I have lived in the house for 4 years and had a great time living here and enjoyed a mutually respectful relationship with the landlord.
