As from mid to late November 2017, we will have rooms for rent for work visa fruitpickers/travellers in a share-room set up or you can rent rooms privately across two homes a street apart. The room rent/week includes ALL bills and internet download, dish and clothes detergent AND linen and bedding.
And, if you are planning ahead and looking for somewhere to stay during your AMC or the Newnham Campus of Utas study year in 2018 then we might be the home you are looking for.
For students, the room rates are $140/week and have different inclusions and there is no room sharing unless you are a couple.
Get in touch if you are both a visa fruitpicker/traveller or student, and I can send you some pics and info on where the room is, and arrange a time for you to view the homes.
The home featured and pictured here is fondly called VB and it has been home to students from around the world for over 10 years...so you will be joining a family that spans the globe!
When you see our kitchen wall.....you will see the variety of people who have shared this home with you - get your pic up on our wall and make history with us.
We also share family dinners with our other share home family...so you will be part of a new network when you walk through our door.
The home is two story, has a wonderful balcony overlooking a pretty garden, full of roses during summer, and looks out to the Tamar river, with the fabulous setting sun on a warm day.
Each room has in-room heating, all linen and bedding supplied - if you need it - with everything you would need for your study time here in Launceston.
What's included if you are a student?
Study desk/lamp/chair, and rooms have double beds at least other than our fondly-called Sunroom. AND we are just under 3km from the AMC/Uni...people staying here have walked, ridden bikes or used their cars/caught the bus.
There is a large wifi internet down-load you share with your housemates, and all the water and some of the power is included in your weekly rent.
Oh, and do you know, because your landlord lives in, you get to have someone who keeps your toilet/bathroom clean and the common areas clean too...now that is fairly amazing ;). Clothes and dish detergent is also included.
Most of the students who have stayed here have been PhD students, ocean or marine engineers, valuing the quiet space and ability to focus on getting their studies done vs dealing with share house politics which can happen in some homes.
So, if you like space to enjoy your down time reading a book in the sun or watching a movie, AND a quiet environment to study, this is probably a great place for you.
The home is a home for you while you are away from your own, with a great lounge that also overlooks the river and the sunny garden, with a large TV for times when you are over study and want to veg out.
If we sound like the sort of place you would like to share with us, call us or drop Suz a line and we can see if we both have a fit.
We cant wait to hear from you.
I have shared my home ever since I have had this property, and I have had the pleasure of people from Iran, India, Germany, Hong Kong, Taiwan, WA, Vic and the list goes on!
I am someone who goes out of my way to ensure the students and working visa travellers who stay here have all they need to get themselves set up for their year ahead and during summer.
During the summer time, you will be sharing with people from Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Germany, France, etc.
I work in marketing and sales for a number of businesses, am someone who keeps fit and eats well, and enjoys making a space for people to enjoy, share good company and get what they came here to do, done.
All working visa travellers need to leave the property by early/mid February 2018 to allow for the student year ahead.
If you are a student for 2018 year, it is fairly common for students staying with me, to stay more than a year if their course is longer. They are welcome and it is great to have this ongoing connection.
We hope you enjoy your stay too and want to make it your home for however long you are here.
