Hi there our names are Leaha and Enigma. We are two best friends from Western Australia looking to get into a share house ASAP. We are looking for to rent 2 FURNISHED bedrooms with friendly housemates. Our budget is $150-$180 a week, however we are willing to pay more if bills/internet are included or if the house is expectional. Both of us work full time at night, we are relaxed non party girls who just moved to Melbourne and we are sick of living in hostels!
i am a great guy i love helping out in the house i love doing housework i am a very nice guy to live with i got a good sense of humor
My friend Russell is of the opinion that dating apps are great for finding flatmates and that sharehouse ads are great for finding dates. Tinder's in-house sociologist Dr. Jess Carbino says that the more information a user can share, the better (I should probably cite this reference). With that in mind I’m approaching finding a new home with the desperation of being single for the past five years and have outlined my prospective personal advertisement below. I have followed an OKcupid template because it prompts you with questions. Before you go any further! I would like to be able to have my dog Onion around for at least part of the time. She has doting grandparents in the country and I will likely split my time between the city and Castlemaine so she will not be around constantly. I like some degree of communal living at home and need a garden to potter in. Also preferably cheap, I don’t want to live in a perpetual state of rent stress. My self summary I’m about to start the second year of my Masters in Stage Design at VCA. I am artistic but extremely practical. I like to garden and grow my own food. I have a lot of indoor plants. I make 1:25 scale models for productions and make mini replicas of furniture from my house. I like it very much. I am 34, my birthday is in June, I am 5’ 8” tall, and currently weigh around 60kg. I like the oxford comma. My favourite colour is brown which is the most disliked colour in the world. I have mostly had relationships with women and probably fall under the queer umbrella. I am a vegetarian. My Meyers Briggs type is INTP. My arts practice is participatory and I am interested primarily in a collaborative theatre practice. According to EHarmony, highlighting certain traits gets you more replies. Here are five words men might want to consider putting in their online dating profile: 1. Physically fit (+96% more interaction than daters who did not use this word). I ride a bike for transport and do a lot of building so am reasonably strong. I don’t go to gyms or exercise for pleasure. I do have an active dog so that requires a modicum of energy. 2. Perceptive (+51%) Look I think I’m pretty insightful but my intuition regarding people is usually off. I suck at choosing flatmates and partners and usually wait for people to befriend me. 3. Spontaneous (+45%) I am NOT spontaneous. I need to plan in advance. Unless it is about food. Yes we should quietly cook 9 litres of soup at 11pm. 4. Outgoing (+44%) The definition of this is “friendly and confident” which is deceptive. Yes I am these things but need a lot of incentive to ‘go out’ and do them. 5. Optimistic (+39%) I am optimistic in regards to achieving design outcomes. You want to do that?! Yes lets figure out a way to do it. But I’m a realist. And pessimistic about the human race. 5 words women might want to consider putting in their online dating profile: 1. Ambitious (+48%) Yes, I am ambitious. I think this is one of my defining characteristics. 2. Perceptive (+46%) See above in the men’s section. 3. Sweet (+33%) I can be pretty salty but I will make you dinner or bake coconut cream pie for my classmates for no reason. 4. Hard working (+32%) Yes very. I work myself to the ground. It can be a problem. 5. Thoughtful (+28%) “absorbed in or involving thought” I am developing those ‘eleven’ wrinkles between my eyebrows. But I think they mean “showing consideration for the needs of other people” – see above under Sweet ie Salty. Dr. Jess Carbino (remember her from EHarmony?) also says people’s chances decrease by 15% when they wear glasses. What the hell! Glasses really frame a face. I wear glasses. I'm really good at Finding creative solutions. Caring for plants and animals. Setting expectations of myself too high. I am a good cook and understand flavour profiles unlike my father who constantly tries to substitute parsley for coriander. The first thing people notice about me My hair currently resembles that of Samuel Beckett on a windy day. Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food I tend to only read reference or non-fiction books with the exception of plays. I do not like Shakespeare with the exception of Titus Andronicus because of the difficulty of staging all the bloodshed. I subscribe to the New Yorker but they pile up so fast they are mostly just set dressing at this point. I like to do audio descriptions of the cartoons. I am currently reading a biography of Thornton Wilder. I have cried watching all of these Oscar buzzy films in the last month: Call Me By Your Name; I, Tonya; Lady Bird; Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri; Coco. Also two extremely underrated Meryl Streep films: Plenty and Defending Your Life. If you don’t like Meryl Streep I will be very suspicious of you. Tampopo Bridesmaids Saturday Night Live Levitated Mass, that documentary about the artist Michael Heizer I enjoy a wide variety of music. I particularly enjoy classical minimalism and listening to Golden Days Radio 95.7 FM and any station that has love song dedications. The Independent (dubious news source I know) says that listing food on your dating profile results in more replies. They suggest that listing guacamole would result in a 144% increase in respondents. Well guess what? I do like guacamole. I am currently propagating avocado seeds to sow a plantation. It is my little agricultural nest egg. Their second suggestion is potatoes at 101%. This is a bit perplexing. I do quite like potatoes and think they are severely underrated and more varieties should be grown in this country. They are very easy to grow. I suggest a mixture of straw and manure. I had a very bad food poisoning experience after eating at a Michelin Star restaurant in Spain in 2010 so I have an extreme dislike of truffles and truffle oil. I will gag. Again, I am a vegetarian. The six things I could never do without Toothpicks, cordless drill, a pencil (I prefer a 2H or H, who decided HB was the standard?), my dog Onion, an optional hat, and look to be honest probably a stash of pharmaceuticals because I get a lot of headaches. I spend a lot of time thinking about Conversations I should be having out loud. I really do worry a lot. Dramaturgy. Whether my mood will improve if I eat something. On a typical Friday night I am Unfortunately probably staring at a computer. What I am looking for in a partner In an ideal world I’d like to be with someone who wants to make things with me, ie someone in the theatre industry. Directors, actors, engineers? Is that bar too specific and high? Someone who wants to co-parent my animals. Something long term. You should message me if You want to live with me, you want to date me, you want to offer me a casual retail job, you want to be my friend.
We are two BFFs looking for another friend to get a house with. Chloe has lived in Melbourne for the past three years. She is a Psych student at Deakin who loves watching Netflix and having a boogie on the weekend. Carly is moving to Melb from a little country town where we both grew up. Carly will be working full time. She loves going to the gym and pretending to work out and getting drunk far too quickly. We enjoy a movie night in and some time alone but also like to go out every now and then. If you think we would get along with you or you have any questions please send us a message. We wanna move as soon as we can.
Two of us from Adelaide coming over to study at RMIT (Fashion and Landscape Architecture) and the other from Bright studying at LaTrobe (Environmental Geoscience), we're pretty easy going people, we're very capable and quite domesticated (our mothers taught us well). Love socialising and outdoor activities. We love a good music festival or gig.
Hey! I'm Renz and I'm a recent university graduate from Adelaide who is relocating to Melbourne for work mid-February (1 year contract, full time). My work is situated in Abbotsford and I won't be bringing my car with me so I'm hoping to find a place close to a train station along the Hurstbridge or South Morang line. When I'm not at work, I enjoy being active by going to the gym or the dance studio (I'm a hip hop dancer, just if you're curious). Or if I'm in a lazy mood, I enjoy cooking/baking, jamming on my guitar or chilling out with a good movie/tv series. I'm very tidy, respectful of people and their personal space and always down to make new friends!
Hi! My name is Katie, I just graduated from Fine Art at VCA and I am looking to start a share house with some like-minded people. I love art, I mostly do sculpture and installation myself but I am also on the board of a gallery in the city and really enjoy working with artists across various kinds of practices. I also enjoy reading, swimming, yoga, hiking and drinking wine with friends (red in the winter, bit of a rose gal when the sun is shinning! ; ) Looking to start a chilled but social share house with some considerate humans. : )
We're a couple in our late 20s/early 30s, looking for housemates to move in with somewhere in the North. Aira works with the union and Jit is a writer for a furniture company. We are clean, considerate and respectful to live with. We are generally out and about in the day and enjoy coming home to some quiet time with the occasional drink over a nice chat and good music :) We are also looking into adopting a little kitty, so really hoping for a pet-friendly home to move into!
I am a fairly social yet independent and relaxed person, and am hoping to find some like-minded housemates! I am originally from WA, but spent the past 4 years living in Vietnam (Saigon), before moving to Melbourne just before Christmas. I was a physio previously, but am career-changing to high school science teaching. I am fairly low-key during the week - work, study (masters) and some sport. On weekends, I enjoy being out and about with friends, checking out music and events, watching footy (during the season!) and just generally enjoying life. I love cooking, watching good movies, playing Scrabble / Trivial Pursuit, drinking wine and general chats! Ideally, I would love to live with friendly and fun folk, who enjoy housey hangs but also are fairly independent and chilled.
Yet another twenty-something looking for sweet digs north of the city! Currently looking for an unfurnished room in/around the regular Northside areas. Long-term lease is ideal, as I'm looking for something pretty stable. Close to public transport is a must as I'm a slave to our PTV overlords and need them to get to my jobs in the city. Preferably up to $200-230/wk, but can do higher if price includes bills. I work full-time-equivalent in ticketing and other arts/festival admin-y jobs, which means: a) I'm out of the house quite a bit, especially during festival time, b) I have a steady-enough income that means rent/bills get paid on time, and pantry is always in full supply of Blend 43, and c) I can offer you free tickets to things as an apology in the rare event I leave a gross pan in the sink for an unacceptable amount of time! Not a great cook, but can contribute in other ways like taking out bins and spiders, and not being overly-around when you need some space. I'm also clean, reasonably tidy, polite to your visiting mum, and all those good things. Will be in Adelaide for work Feb 10 - March 20, so looking to move in either ASAP or in late March when I'm back in town. Of course, I'm more than happy to sign a lease, pay rent etc. for the time I'm away if I'm able to move in before I ship out to SA.
Hi, I'm a quiet, creative and fun person looking for a place to stay while I study Psychology at Melbourne Uni. I love animals and parks, but also love to just veg out and consume TV or movies. I have casual work, but love to draw, write and paint in my spare time, and have a finished Zine. I'm very passionate about social justice issues, and have an intersectional approach to my life! My friend is also looking for a place too! Her name is Thirushi and she's a med student that is working this year. She is fun, extroverted, loves basketball, reading and finding new bars. She is a strong supporter of human rights and hopes to work for Doctors without Borders.
Hello! My name is Victoria and I'm coming to Melbourne in February to study at La Trobe University for an exchange semester. I'm superexited to come to Melbourne but the only thing I need now is acccomodation. I'm from Sweden and back home I study anthropology at Gothenburg University. For fun I love to explore and travel, I'm also down for a glass of wine with friends or just having a chill evening. I'm too old for crazy parties now XD
Hi there! I'm Charlie, moving to Northen Melbourne (from Tassie) to do the best job ever. I am going to be a broadcaster for an Esports Studio (like a sports comentator for compedetive games) so living with me is going to be a blast! Action packed and always up for a laugh or a drink. Very tech savvy so I'll keep your hardware running smooth and topped up with the latest games/TV/Movies/Music. Avid gamer myself! Can be noisy at times for work so if you are planning to go to bed at 6 PM I'm probably not the roomate for you! Not a smoker. Not into drugs (apart from a drink or 2) Easy to get allong with Tidy Pet/LGBT friendly Big NBN plan is a must! Hope to hear from you soon!
Myself (Meg) and my partner Joe are looking for a short term stay (around 6 weeks) We both work full time during the week and both have weekends off. Which we usually spend time with friends out having food or a few drinks. We're both clean and very easy going. Both very sociable people but totally understand everyone needs there own personal space.
Hi! I'm from India and will be moving to Melbourne in Feb 2018 for a Masters program at the University of Melbourne. I'm tidy, respectful and reliable with payments. I am pretty social and would love to live in a house where I can hang out with my housemates. I enjoy football , gaming, binge-watching TV series and will always have time for a beer or two. I'm looking for a place preferably within a 8 mile radius from Unimelb.
Hi There I’m looking to share house with quiet, respectful and easygoing person or people 2 max. I’m quite down to earth, enjoy going to the gym, hiking, relaxing, watching movies and catching up with friends every now and then… I’m a clean and tidy person and happily participate in with household chores… Look forward to hearing from you. Regards David…
My boyfriend (Ollie) and I are moving to Melbourne in February. He's studying at RMIT, while I'm a Primary Teacher. We're both 24 and have been together since high school. We're both super tidy and clean, though generally pretty laid back personality wise. We have a Golden Retriever called Teddy. He's completely house and toilet trained and has been through a few levels of obedience classes. He's generally excited for about five minutes when we get home for the day, and spends the rest of time napping/being the laziest dog out there. Scratch him under the chin, and you've got a best friend for life. We're pretty open to any sort of household - we're both vegetarian but couldn't care less what anyone else eats. We're pretty social people, so would be happy to be in a sociable household, but also don't mind being in a house where everyone keeps to themselves. We're flexible in regards to a move in date, though any point during February would be best.
Hi there! I'm Harriet and my partner's name is Mike, we are an English couple over in Australia on a working holiday visa. We have already been here for 15 months, so have about another 8/9 left before we have to leave (which we are very sad about). Myself and Mike are super easy going and friendly and we love meeting new people. Ideally we would love to share a house with a few others around a similar age to us as we like to socialise with our housemates to make the house feel like a nice home environment. We are moving back to Melbourne after having lived there for 6 months, attempted to leave but realised we loved it too much and are now returning. Neither of us has a job at the moment as we have not moved back to Melbourne yet, but we both have contacts in Melbourne which would mean finding work will not be hard (so don't let that put you off!). In our spare time we enjoy hiking, rock climbing, socialising either over a few drinks and dinner at home, going out for some good coffee or exploring some of Melbourne's great bars!
Hi I am Emma. I am super easy going, love to have a laugh, pretty fun although I don't drink much I am still social. I am tidy and respectful of people's space. I am working in a preschool and teach yoga. I am living in Sydney ATM but will be moving to Melbourne shortly.
Hey! My friends and i are currently looking to find one more housemate to fill a house in Reservoir Melbourne (close to La Trobe uni, and Melbourne uni) With myself, and two of my friends who are a couple. The house has 3 bedrooms and one studio but the past tenants used the studio as a bedroom. We are looking to move in around mid February-early march and are needing one more person to join us. Preferably around our age, gender doesn't matter. We are clean easy going reliable people, and respect peoples privacy. If you're interested or would like more information don't hesitate to send me a message! Thankyou :)
I'm super chilled, social, responsible, environmentally conscious, all the good stuff for a flatmate. I've been in Brunswick for a few years, but yearn now for the open green pastures of Coburg, or northern Brunswick. I'm into live music and pubs, festivals (starting to feel old), camping outdoorsie stuff and above all, good conversation. I'm learning guitar and a few other instruments but still pretty hopeless atm and I have old red heeler Bob, who is just the best dog ever, and doesn't smell. I just want a clean respectful house with social flatmates. We dont have to be into the same things but a good environment and dynamic is everything.
I am easygoing clean and tidy person.i dont drink or smoke and i am looking to find a room for rent preferably with women
