A natural health practitioner, I am currently finishing a degree in nutrition. What is important for me is sharing a quiet home with a likeminded person or people. Ideally if there is an option to rent a granny flat/ cottage. I love nature so a house with a garden/orchard and space to grow veggies and chooks, is important. I have experience with farm life and looking after livestock, so can help out with farm activities. I am a cook (currently follow an organic low carb / high protein diet) and can cook for a household if that type of arrangement is in interest. I am a non-smoker and drinker. Access to public transport is important as I sometimes commute to Melbourne. Here is my motto: This is what I support "We must move towards greater self- sufficiency and self- reliance. We must transition to make our gardens our primary source of our fresh food or support systems that are all about fresh organic ethical food, such as food co-ops and buyer groups, and authentic farmers' markets. These practices encourage greater land care, health awareness and living with integrity supporting local, small scale, sustainable food and earth care systems. The more we move towards and support such systems, moving away from industrial scale, commercially unsustainable, ethically dubious sources, the more control we gain back from highly questionable food systems. How can a week old, pesticide-laden, far-travelled lettuce ever compete with a homegrown organic lettuce plucked fresh from the garden minutes before being eaten? Surely the former is madness to support on so many levels."

I have shared houses with lots of different people over the years and have learned to adapt well to changing needs of my various housemates. I communicate my needs well and I listen to others' needs. I am clean and tidy and cook and like to do bulk cooking which I am happy to share with the household. I make great stocks. I am a writer so I can have times where I am very quiet, but I also like to socialise and go to see bands with my friends, and to see bands my friends are in. Whilst I work part-time at a service station, when it fits around my caring responsibilities, I also care for a man who lives in Carisbrook and has had a severe heart attack and leaving him with 15% heart function, so I am very busy, and sometimes am not home much. If I burn out a bit I may organise others to care for him and take some time out, then I am home for a couple of days. I am pretty easy going although I like being able to do a lot of cooking, so like the kitchen to be kept mostly clean. I like singing in choirs, reading lots, going for coffees with friends when I have time, working on my novel/s, and I am an obsessive walker. I have to walk in the bush to feel like myself. I also love science fiction and fantasy films and books. I am looking for people who maybe do or don't cook, or only when they have time, and who are friendly but understand when I need to be quiet or meditate. I like people who do their share of the housework, or who will negotiate with me to exchange something for it. I would absolutely love to share with other writers, but it is just a fond wish, not an expectation. I look forward to being contacted by interested persons who have room/s available.

A bit about me: I’m a professional in education, as well as being a professional musician. I hold 2 jobs in education - 1 day per week in Charlton, and 4 days per fortnight at Malmsbury Youth Justice Centre - both positions involve teaching Music. My third job is as head of a music podcast/tv show, and that is based in Melbourne despite being mostly work-from-home. I’m looking for a place closer to Malmsbury than my current home in Donald, which I own. I’m also currently studying. Busy but happy! I have a personal service doggo, Summer, who is highly trained, very quiet, highly house-trained, is very cat-friendly and she travels with me. I have four kids (21, 14, 14, and 11) although I’d be applying to be flat mate for just myself and doggo. I have shared care arrangements for the kids, and am in Donald every second week. My partner lives and works in both Melbourne and Bendigo. She is a healthcare professional and we would both be grateful if she’s welcome to stay occasionally if I’m the right flatmate. I’m LGBTQIA+ myself, as is my partner, and I like to respect people’s space and their needs. Happy to be occasionally social and doggo and I enjoy the quiet, walking, staying relatively fit (despite being an outdoors smoker - no mull - just ciggies), I very rarely drink, and I enjoy doing my own thing when time allows. Love cooking and gardening, too! I have friends nearby to your property and I’m looking forward to the possibility of seeing them more often if I’m successful in renting from you. Hope to hear from you soon! Julian Smith.

I’m a Melbourne girl looking to call Ballarat my new home! I’ll be working full time in journalism so during the week I’m looking for a relaxed, clean and reasonably quiet set up. On weekends I’m quite social, love a yarn, boogie and shiraz every so often but also appreciate some downtime; reading, painting & love a big cook up. When I do get actual time off I’m big on road trips, camping and travel… very keen to get to know a new part of Vic too. If you think we could gel well, let me know! (I also come with a family of plants)
