I am an easy going full time university student whom is organised and like to keep things tidy. I enjoy jogging regularly, the occasional bike ride and when lazy l'll play some games or read something etc. An ideal room or art studio i'm looking for would be a room with a single bed (preferably for more space) and a desk and chair to sit upon hours of studying. If with others l'll always be up for card games :)
My friend Russell is of the opinion that dating apps are great for finding flatmates and that sharehouse ads are great for finding dates. Tinder's in-house sociologist Dr. Jess Carbino says that the more information a user can share, the better (I should probably cite this reference). With that in mind I’m approaching finding a new home with the desperation of being single for the past five years and have outlined my prospective personal advertisement below. I have followed an OKcupid template because it prompts you with questions. Before you go any further! I would like to be able to have my dog Onion around for at least part of the time. She has doting grandparents in the country and I will likely split my time between the city and Castlemaine so she will not be around constantly. I like some degree of communal living at home and need a garden to potter in. Also preferably cheap, I don’t want to live in a perpetual state of rent stress. My self summary I’m about to start the second year of my Masters in Stage Design at VCA. I am artistic but extremely practical. I like to garden and grow my own food. I have a lot of indoor plants. I make 1:25 scale models for productions and make mini replicas of furniture from my house. I like it very much. I am 34, my birthday is in June, I am 5’ 8” tall, and currently weigh around 60kg. I like the oxford comma. My favourite colour is brown which is the most disliked colour in the world. I have mostly had relationships with women and probably fall under the queer umbrella. I am a vegetarian. My Meyers Briggs type is INTP. My arts practice is participatory and I am interested primarily in a collaborative theatre practice. According to EHarmony, highlighting certain traits gets you more replies. Here are five words men might want to consider putting in their online dating profile: 1. Physically fit (+96% more interaction than daters who did not use this word). I ride a bike for transport and do a lot of building so am reasonably strong. I don’t go to gyms or exercise for pleasure. I do have an active dog so that requires a modicum of energy. 2. Perceptive (+51%) Look I think I’m pretty insightful but my intuition regarding people is usually off. I suck at choosing flatmates and partners and usually wait for people to befriend me. 3. Spontaneous (+45%) I am NOT spontaneous. I need to plan in advance. Unless it is about food. Yes we should quietly cook 9 litres of soup at 11pm. 4. Outgoing (+44%) The definition of this is “friendly and confident” which is deceptive. Yes I am these things but need a lot of incentive to ‘go out’ and do them. 5. Optimistic (+39%) I am optimistic in regards to achieving design outcomes. You want to do that?! Yes lets figure out a way to do it. But I’m a realist. And pessimistic about the human race. 5 words women might want to consider putting in their online dating profile: 1. Ambitious (+48%) Yes, I am ambitious. I think this is one of my defining characteristics. 2. Perceptive (+46%) See above in the men’s section. 3. Sweet (+33%) I can be pretty salty but I will make you dinner or bake coconut cream pie for my classmates for no reason. 4. Hard working (+32%) Yes very. I work myself to the ground. It can be a problem. 5. Thoughtful (+28%) “absorbed in or involving thought” I am developing those ‘eleven’ wrinkles between my eyebrows. But I think they mean “showing consideration for the needs of other people” – see above under Sweet ie Salty. Dr. Jess Carbino (remember her from EHarmony?) also says people’s chances decrease by 15% when they wear glasses. What the hell! Glasses really frame a face. I wear glasses. I'm really good at Finding creative solutions. Caring for plants and animals. Setting expectations of myself too high. I am a good cook and understand flavour profiles unlike my father who constantly tries to substitute parsley for coriander. The first thing people notice about me My hair currently resembles that of Samuel Beckett on a windy day. Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food I tend to only read reference or non-fiction books with the exception of plays. I do not like Shakespeare with the exception of Titus Andronicus because of the difficulty of staging all the bloodshed. I subscribe to the New Yorker but they pile up so fast they are mostly just set dressing at this point. I like to do audio descriptions of the cartoons. I am currently reading a biography of Thornton Wilder. I have cried watching all of these Oscar buzzy films in the last month: Call Me By Your Name; I, Tonya; Lady Bird; Three Billboards Outside Ebbing Missouri; Coco. Also two extremely underrated Meryl Streep films: Plenty and Defending Your Life. If you don’t like Meryl Streep I will be very suspicious of you. Tampopo Bridesmaids Saturday Night Live Levitated Mass, that documentary about the artist Michael Heizer I enjoy a wide variety of music. I particularly enjoy classical minimalism and listening to Golden Days Radio 95.7 FM and any station that has love song dedications. The Independent (dubious news source I know) says that listing food on your dating profile results in more replies. They suggest that listing guacamole would result in a 144% increase in respondents. Well guess what? I do like guacamole. I am currently propagating avocado seeds to sow a plantation. It is my little agricultural nest egg. Their second suggestion is potatoes at 101%. This is a bit perplexing. I do quite like potatoes and think they are severely underrated and more varieties should be grown in this country. They are very easy to grow. I suggest a mixture of straw and manure. I had a very bad food poisoning experience after eating at a Michelin Star restaurant in Spain in 2010 so I have an extreme dislike of truffles and truffle oil. I will gag. Again, I am a vegetarian. The six things I could never do without Toothpicks, cordless drill, a pencil (I prefer a 2H or H, who decided HB was the standard?), my dog Onion, an optional hat, and look to be honest probably a stash of pharmaceuticals because I get a lot of headaches. I spend a lot of time thinking about Conversations I should be having out loud. I really do worry a lot. Dramaturgy. Whether my mood will improve if I eat something. On a typical Friday night I am Unfortunately probably staring at a computer. What I am looking for in a partner In an ideal world I’d like to be with someone who wants to make things with me, ie someone in the theatre industry. Directors, actors, engineers? Is that bar too specific and high? Someone who wants to co-parent my animals. Something long term. You should message me if You want to live with me, you want to date me, you want to offer me a casual retail job, you want to be my friend.
We are two BFFs looking for another friend to get a house with. Chloe has lived in Melbourne for the past three years. She is a Psych student at Deakin who loves watching Netflix and having a boogie on the weekend. Carly is moving to Melb from a little country town where we both grew up. Carly will be working full time. She loves going to the gym and pretending to work out and getting drunk far too quickly. We enjoy a movie night in and some time alone but also like to go out every now and then. If you think we would get along with you or you have any questions please send us a message. We wanna move as soon as we can.
I'm a 24 year old professional working in data analytics full time. I'm currently looking for a place to move into by 4 Feb (at the latest) I'm looking for a place (minimum 6 months) in West Footscray, North Melbourne, Fitzroy, Brunswick, Yarraville, etc. (I'm not that concerned with where, as long as closish to the city and public transport is around) I do contract remote book keeping on top of my full time job, so I have no problems with bills. I have 8 years of experience in sharehousing. I'm relatively quiet, although always willing to hang out with housemates. I drink too much coffee and come with a Netflix subscription I'm willing to share. Most weekends I'm off exploring the city or trying something new (like a museum, a gallery or a cooking class).
Super easy to get along with, respects others and their space, whilst also loving socialising with everyone when people are around and up for it. When I'm not working I enjoy dancing, going to classes at the gym (really want to get into Muay Thai once I find a place to live), creating, baking, chilling watching Netflix and hanging out with friends.

I'm a 21 year old, male, full time, 3rd year Musical Theatre student who works part-time and will be looking for accommodation on a month to month basis for 2018 but happy to commit to the first four months. I will be auditioning for work on cruise ships all year but would give a months notice if I'm successful getting a job. I will be continuing my studies until December otherwise. I'm clean and tidy, not particularly noisy but do love good music. I have an easy going personality, I work hard (singer, dancer) and play even harder (mountain biking, rock climbing, park gyming, acrobatics), love a rum on my evenings off, like cooking so I love the look of your kitchen and I like most people.
Hi! I'm from India and will be moving to Melbourne in Feb 2018 for a Masters program at the University of Melbourne. I'm tidy, respectful and reliable with payments. I am pretty social and would love to live in a house where I can hang out with my housemates. I enjoy football , gaming, binge-watching TV series and will always have time for a beer or two. I'm looking for a place preferably within a 8 mile radius from Unimelb.
My boyfriend (Ollie) and I are moving to Melbourne in February. He's studying at RMIT, while I'm a Primary Teacher. We're both 24 and have been together since high school. We're both super tidy and clean, though generally pretty laid back personality wise. We have a Golden Retriever called Teddy. He's completely house and toilet trained and has been through a few levels of obedience classes. He's generally excited for about five minutes when we get home for the day, and spends the rest of time napping/being the laziest dog out there. Scratch him under the chin, and you've got a best friend for life. We're pretty open to any sort of household - we're both vegetarian but couldn't care less what anyone else eats. We're pretty social people, so would be happy to be in a sociable household, but also don't mind being in a house where everyone keeps to themselves. We're flexible in regards to a move in date, though any point during February would be best.
Easy going, clean and tidy person, career driven, enjoys a social night as well as relaxed nights in. I currently work full time in customer service I live in west Melbourne and am looking to move out of home for the first time. For fun I enjoy going out with friends, going to the beach and going on weekend adventures to different places around Melbourne.
My name is Matthew, I'm 24 years old and work part-time in Williamstown; I have also graduated from university so I'm also looking for full time work. I have been renting and house sharing since i left Ballarat at 18 for uni and get along well with all kinds of people. I'm quiet, respectful and considerate of others and i'm looking for a similar environment. My interests include sport, TV/film, video games and cooking. I'm not too keen on big house parties although I'm happy to share some social drinks in the arvo every now and then.
I am a 3rd year Film and Television student at Deakin. I am a very relaxed person, i am happy to either go out for the night, have a party at home, or just chill and watch Netflix. I love to cook and tidy up after myself. I work a casual job for Typo and do some freelance editing also. I do own a dog, but if the situation doesn't fit he does not have to live with me, he can live with my parents.

I'm a 25 year old guy from Brisbane but have been travelling and living abroad for the past 2.5 years. I've really outgrown BrisVegas now so am keen to give Melbourne a go. I have lived in many share houses before including in Amsterdam, London and Brisbane and have been told I'm a chilled, easy going person to live with. I will be working full time in a call centre and aim to save up before heading back to Europe in June/July. In my spare time I like to work out, take travel photos and have a drink. Thanks for reading, cheers!
I am easygoing clean and tidy person.i dont drink or smoke and i am looking to find a room for rent preferably with women
Hi! 19, living in Footscray at the moment and would love to stay around the area. Agreeable, accepting of others, mature and self-sufficient/tidy person. I tend to keep to myself and respect privacy but I enjoy just having people around. Psychology undergrad student so neurological facts at random intervals come as standard. I spend a lot of time going to gigs, studying, and eating cereal. I enjoy fanning out over art, obscure bands and tele shows. As a final selling point, I come with an extensive repertoire of elaborate salad recipes incl. :)
Hi there! I'm a 21 year old student from Sydney relocating to Melbourne to study Communication Design. Would prefer to live with other friendly students. Looking for a place within around 3 - 12km of the CBD. My strengths include being reliable and considerate. Will definitely clean up after myself and willing to share the responsibility of housework. I am quiet, a non-smoker and definitely not a party animal - looking to share a house with people who also have these qualities. However, would love to find housemates I can become friends with and chill together sometimes! Hopefully be able to share the occasional meal, go out for drinks, or even just stay in for a movie night. Most of my spare time will probably be spent trying new recipes, reading, watching tv shows/movies, going to the gym, and exploring Melbourne. :)
Hi there! I'm Alex, 23, and I'm moving back to Melbourne after a few years abroad to begin my Masters at Melbourne Uni. I'm friendly, tidy and sociable, I've been living in house shares for the past five years so I'm very well house trained. I'm looking for a private room in a share house within 30-40mins of the city. I lived in Melbourne a few years back so I am pretty familiar with the city. I will be studying full-time and will be looking for part-time work once I find a place in Melbourne. I'm happy to live with anyone of any age or background. I'm always up for a chat or a drink, but I do enjoy my own space and I'm very respectful of that of others. My budget is somewhat flexible, around $200 p/w, and that would ideally included some furnishings and bills. Feel free to send me a message or give me a call at any time. Thanks! :)
Coffee drinking, creative male seeking accomidation. Virtual reality developer/ 3d artists and all round good guy who is moving back to Melbourne after living in Sawtell for 5 years. And will be attending RMIT this year. So while I'm living here in Sawtell I'm looking for a room in a quite share house to move into. Please note - though I've put down the 18th, I am prepared to move in early February. Me, sociable, independent, open minded and laid back individual who likes a good chat over a coffee. I would consider myself as a house trained male (thanks to my mother) who pays the rent and bills on time, tidies up after himself and respects other people's space and property. I can also cook a good tuna pasta. My main interests are virtual and augmented reality, jazz, horror and sci fiction films and art just to name a few. Open to smoking/ non smoking household, pets. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. Look forward to hearing from you.
I'm Lydia, 30, and work at Toyota, though my experience before this is in humanitarian aid sector. I'm pretty easy going, like to share a meal with housemates occasionally, a glass of wine or beer and a good chat are always good, but I understand that home is a sanctuary and space/alone time is important. I love reading, enjoy a good meal, pubs, playing ultimatum games and a good laugh. I think it's important to make the effort to make a share house a home, not just a house. I like to keep communal spaces clean, and cooking for housies. I'm very easy going and flexible. I think it's important to respect others' space and time.
Hello all! I am a Canadian backpacker moving back to Melbourne after doing some travel around the country. I lived in Richmond before leaving but I have a new job in the Western suburbs so I'm leaning more to the western or northern places to live. I've been working and traveling in NZ and Australia for the past 24 months which has put me in countless shared accommodation and roommate situations. This has proven to me that I am very well house trained and easy going with all types of people no matter the proximity. I do my best to stay mess free, keep a clean kitchen and respect peoples space/belongings. I consider myself an extroverted introvert so I always enjoy meeting new people, going out for food and drinks as well as the occasional plugin to the online world for games, movies or reading depending on my mood/energy. Some of my interests are: personal fitness (running), cooking, gaming, ultimate frisbee, photography, camping, hiking and surfing (I have extra boards, let's go to Torquay!). I love to keep active and fit while also exercising my brain as much as I can by reading, learning new skills and studying new subjects whenever I make time for them. Preferences (but I'm not too strict on them): -good location with access to public transport into the cbd -nice kitchen as I love to try and make delicious things (not always successful) -private room, I love people but I want some space for myself this time around -and of course nice people who are of similar mindset or share an interest or two! If you're looking for someone to fill an empty room shoot me a message and we'll see if we're a match! Cheers, Adam
