Hey there, I'm South African, 37 yo, been in Melbourne about a month now. I'll be here until the middle of next year at the very least, hopefully longer. I'm currently working as a bicycle tech while mulling over more career orientated work options: either a PhD or a position in an environmental consultancy role. About me: My background is in the natural sciences, working as an ecologist at the University of Cape Town. I've been on a sabbatical for the last year, fulfilling a dream of cycling up Africa. The second part of the dream was to live in a new city for a couple of years, so here I am! I'm excited to be here and looking for a place to settle so I can get properly stuck into a new life here. I'd consider myself easy going, uncomplicated, neat and tidy, and totally happy to pull my weight around the house. I wouldn't say I'm the life of the party, but I can wiggle my extremities if the mood strikes me. Honestly, I'm more comfortable at home with friends, good food and conversation...and maybe a board game, some friendly banter. I enjoy a drink and good conversation and I'm partial to a good book or series. Don't mind a bit of cooking either. I'm happiest outside though, doing something active. Specific outdoor interests include rock climbing, hiking, cycling, surfing, kayaking, camping etc. I'm keen to get involved in those activities, with others, as I settle into a Melbourne routine. Hope I get to meet you :) Sam
Hi, I'm Giuliana, looking for a longer-term place to call home in a sharehouse with another 2 or more people. About me: During the week I work 8.30-5, 4 days per week at a university library, and spend 2-3 nights a week at yoga. Aside from yoga, I love hiking, camping and nature connection, travel, cooking (and eating!), motorbike riding, spending quality time with friends and family, veggie and herb gardening; so would love a place with a decent sized backyard with a veggie garden, or the space for one as well as for composting; all the better if there are housemates who'd like to share in this as it's more fun that way, plus I have a lot more to learn! Who I am and what I’m seeking: I'm a thoughtful, open-minded, respectful, grounded, tidy, sustainability-focused person looking to share with other gentle, caring people with similar values; and amongst all of that sharing a healthy dose of humour is most welcome. I'm looking for a longer-term share house (which is why I’ve written so much!) so it's important to me to find a place with people where we can create a healthy household dynamic; which can only really come through clarity in communication. While this can be difficult at times and we’re all learning, it’s super important for me and the people I share with to be willing to try to communicate openly, gently and respectfully to the best of our abilities. I have a fulfilling social life, however I'd really like to live with others who are more than just people I live in the same house with; I'd like to share communal meals and chats regularly. However I also need alone time, and am respectful of other people’s need for that also. I'm currently used to preparing my own meals and composting, but am very open and welcoming to communal living and food sharing. I'm not vegetarian or vegan, but I rarely eat meat and I've happily lived with vegans and vegetarians before. About the house: In terms of the house itself, some things I’d really like (though not essential, unless there’s none of them) are: - Gas stove top (for cooking! Electric or induction are a bit limiting) - Undercover parking for my motorbike (I have a cover for it, but much easier to just park under something) - A backyard that gets some sunlight and has, or has space to grow herbs and veggies (even if it’s just concrete that you can put plant pots on) - An older house with character, with larger rooms and more natural light (I’m not a big fan of those townhouses going up all over the place) - I’m particularly interested in moving to Thornbury, Preston, Fairfield, Northcote, North Fitzroy (not necessarily in that order), but surrounding suburbs like Ivanhoe, Alphington, Brunswick East and Coburg may also be suitable. I have a mish-mash of furniture including a fridge (oldish), and a washing machine (newish). I'm willing to shed what's not needed though as most of it I've collected along the way from family and friends. I have some lovely indoor plants which I'd love to share with my new housemates as some of them are little big for the bedroom! I don’t have a particular date I need to be out of my current place by, but I’d ideally like to have at least 2-3 weeks notice so my existing housemate has a chance to find a new sharer also. Would love to hear from you if you think I'd suit your share home.
My name is Marco, 27 from Florence, Italy. I'm a PhD student with a scholarship at the University of Melbourne. I am a friendly person, I like cooking, meeting new people and having fun together. I like sport. I do not smoke.
I'm easy-going, very clean no matter my own space or public area. I love cooking and good at any topics talking, love to meet new friends but not holding party all the time. I had stayed in Melbourne for a month before am looking forward to moving back again at the end of this year.
Hey everyone, I’m looking for a private room around Brunswick area or somewhere that’s close by, to move in by the end of this month at the latest, I'm a pretty laid back person and won't bother your personal space but I'm also down for a chat or a few drinks here and there. Looking for a clean and respectful environment. I am gender, pet and smoke friendly. My budget is somewhere from $140-190/w. If you have any suggestions that ticks the boxes please contact me on facebook! Thank you xx. Feel free to contact me via phone and yeah, thanks
Hi guys, my name is George, I'm 24. I came to Australia to study in Brisbane and now that uni is over I want to live and work for a while in Melbourne. Why Melbourne? Since it's the cultural hub of Australia and the hipster-place-to-be(which is right up my alley) I want to experience the city and its people and not only stay there for a few days. So my plan is to stay for around 2 months(maybe longer, let's see how things turn out). For work I want to get into hospitality, I have been working the last two years as a bartender in Germany and I would love to get back at it. Just totally adore working and chatting with people in this environment. Some more background on me: Originally I'm from Russia but now studying material science and engineering in Germany. At the moment my hobbies are playing the guitar, singing in a choir(preferably new pop-songs and not only ancient stuff), ballroom dancing, boxing and going out for a run. I would love to continue doing some of this stuff in Melbourne but I'm also totally down to try out new things Before coming to Australia, the past 6 months, I have lived in Munich in a shared house with 6 roomies and I would love to live in a shared flat/house again. I like hanging out with my roomies, having a beer or cooking and having dinner together. I mean we don't have to become best friends(but which would be cool), but I'd like to have roomies who don't try to actively avoid the other roommates and enjoy the company of others. so a family-like environment would be totally awesome
Masters mechatronics engineering student at uniMelb. I'm some one who enjoys having a laugh every now and then. I'm a Big fan of sports, enjoy working out, a FIFA legend. I believe I'm a friendly person in general. I'm neat and like to tidy up things especially areas I share with others. Usually at uni most times during the semesters.
Keeping it short and simple: - I work full time as an electrical engineer - I've been dancing since I was 7. Specialising in rnb and the occasional MJ hip thrust - I love to cook. I love to meal prep and get people to love my food. You honestly have no option but to love my food. - I enjoy staying active; gym, hikes, long romantic walks on the way home intoxicated. - I like to keep my mess to a minimum. If you'd like to know more feel free to hit us up. Peace my peeps
I am a 20 year old music student studying at Melbourne university. I am looking for a private room to rent for 12 months starting in early January. I have been living independently for 4 years and am very positive and friendly. Bonus if you have a dog :)
Hello there! I am an architect , pursuing masters from University of Melbourne and I work in the construction industry in the city. I have one semester to go to finish my post graduation. I have been living by myself from the age of 18 and I know how staying with roommates work. I am friendly, open minded and have a good temperament. I like to keep myself busy with my University and work, but on my days off, I like to explore the city, chill with friends, cook or just catch up with a movie or series on my laptop. I try to make time for some fitness as well. I would like to team up with someone who is like minded, clean and tidy (especially with kitchens and bathrooms), up for a drink or meal but respects my privacy as well. I am looking forward to make my new place a home. If you think we could get along, hit me up!
Hi, I'm Chris and I work in IT. I'm very sociable, clean and enjoy staying busy. There is an element of travel in my work so sometimes I will be away for small periods. Looking to live with similar people (sociable, clean, busy). Hopefully they enjoy being friends with the people they live with who also have lives outside of their living arrangements.
Hey guys, Im a 26 year old Audio Engineering student over at SAE, and I work part time as a Makeup Artist. I'm currently living in Carlton and as much as I love it there I just need something with more of a creative and chill environment. Brunswick would be ideal! Looking to find likeminded housemates who love to hang but also love solo time. I'm vegan, left leaning and into all things music and arts and pop culture related. If you think I'd fit in well with your crew please msg me! I'm super flexible with a move in date as I'm in no rush, just wanting to take the time to find the right place. Rach x ps. Feel free to message me on facebook or insta if its easier! @racheldass
I am a really clean and tidy 22 year old vegan, who likes to chill quietly at home and also love to party. I like going for walks, hanging out with friends and practising skating! I work full-time in retail in Port Melbourne. I love cooking and it would be awesome to share meals with future housemates.
Happy Day, y'all! My name is Kayon (pronounced "Crayon", but without the "r"). As you could probably tell by my use of the word "y'all", I'm from the USA, California to be exact. California's nickname is "The Golden State", and my personality lives up to my home's namesake! I hold a Bachelors Degree in Molecular Cell Biology from the University of California, Berkeley. I have been traveling the world for the last two years. Places visited include South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Scandanavia, West Europe, and Asia. Current stop: Australia! I am in Australia on the Working Holiday Visa, and hope to work in research or other science-related fields during my stay in Melbourne. When I am not moving from one country to the next, I enjoy fencing, hiking, working out at the gym, and learning languages. If you're looking for someone to speak English, Spanish, German, or French with, then look no further! In addition to my language skills, two years of living in hostels and homestays, as well as two years working at Berkeley as a conflict resolver and community developer to university students living on-campus, have made me well-versed in communication and sharing spaces with others. I look forward to telling you more in person! Have a blessed day.
Hello friends!! My name is Georgie and me and my partner Gianni are looking to move into a new place in December. I'm a new grad physiotherapist, and Gianni is a musician - we'll both be working full time in 2019. We are fun, social and enjoy hanging out with our housemates, but we also respect boundaries and alone time. Ideally we are looking for two rooms between us (or one large room) to house our computers/desks and musical equipment but are flexible! We love going to gigs, eating out and watching loads of Netflix in the living room. We also love hanging out and playing boardgames with our housemates. Gianni spends his spare time playing games with his friends and making music. For the most part, Gianni uses his headphones so there's no need to be concerned about noise! Georgie spends her spare time researching, writing, and tending to her plants. We come with loads of furniture and a washing machine if needed. We like keeping our living spaces tidy but homely. Our ideal housemates would be easy going and social but enjoy their own private time and personal life as well. We are always down to have people over and to meet your friends too. We are looking to join an already existing share house or to team up to apply for new ones. We each have extensive (>4 years), squeaky clean rental histories. (We are also hoping to get a cat but this can be discussed - you can come help us chose one!! But it has to love us more).
I'm easy going and like to spend time reading or studying, when I'm not doing either of these I walk my small dog and relax with Netflix. I'm quiet and respectful, looking to cook my own food and live in a clean, happy household (no party house).
I’m Brazilian, 28 years old. I’m working and studying. I like to live in a clean place. I’m happy to share a glass of wine/ beer/ juice 😊 and also I like to have my space. I hope to live in place that I can call home. 😊 I’m happy to give more information.
Hi my name is Jo. I am moving to Melbourne from QLD for a job I start on the 19th Nov. I am looking for a fairly chill place to live - saying this I love the hustle and bustle of the city. I am very neat and tidy and Very respectful of others. I always get along with everyone and am sure I can easily adapt to the vibe of the household. I was born in Australia and my family heritage is from Finland. I have travelled quite a bit in the last few years with New York City being my favourite. I love going to the markets, reading, watercolouring, geocaching, learning about birds/wildlife and I adore dogs! I’ll be working full time in the City so most of the time I’ll be out. When I’m home I’ll probably just be taking it easy and exploring my new home town on days off.
I am a 25 year old professional relocating from Newcastle NSW to Melbourne to take on a BDM role for an Educational Resources company. I will be spending most of my time either on the road around the city visiting childcare centres, or working in the CBD at the office, however will be required to work from home a little bit (and would love a study space/corner!) I have lived in share houses previously, and really enjoy it. I like to keep things relatively clean and tidy. I am an active and a social person - I’ll often be up and about in the morning with the dogs, and hitting the gym after work, but do love my wine and cheese and a night in or out as well. I have a 10 year old Jack Russell. She is an absolute sweetheart and gets on well with other dogs, but as she is getting old she spends most of her time sleeping or snoozing in the sunshine and isn’t too playful anymore. I also have a 3 year old Ridgeback mix. He is very quiet and loves a good belly rub. Where I am now, I take them out regularly, and am happy to help out with yours too. As I’m still in Newcastle, I can’t actually come and have a look at the room straight away (though am hoping to be able to come down for a weekend to check places out in the next couple of weeks), but am more than happy to have a chat over phone, Social Media etc, whatever works for you! My starting date for the new job is 3rd December, so looking to move in the days prior to that - ideally the Thursday/Friday before, but do have a couch to crash on if this needs to be pushed out a few days. I look forward to hearing from you!
