Hello,

My name is Soo, from Seoul, South Korea. I studied painting, focusing on abstract work inspired by natural landscapes. After graduating, I wanted to experience a broader world and reflect those experiences in my artwork, which led me to start a new journey in Melbourne on October 21, 2025.

In Korea, I worked in galleries and museums for around five years. While I enjoyed the work, I wanted to focus
more on my own creative development and gain new perspectives through different life experiences.
I chose Melbourne because it is a major city and well known for its art and cultural scene.

Over the past 6 months, I’ve been working at MCG, local cafe Oddspot, and Moondog Brewery. During this time, I've earned
around $600-1000 per week, and I am confident I will secure a similar level of income in Townsville as I actively look for new work.

Living in Melbourne has allowed me to meet great people and experience Australian culture, especially through my housemate and landlord, Sarah.

I have a partner named Sem, whom I met during a trip to Japan. We are now planning to start a new chapter together in Townsville. For me, this move is a great opportunity to experience a different side of Australia, its people, and a new way of life.

While Melbourne is fast-paced and demanding, which I do enjoy to an extent, I’m also looking forward to a slower and more balanced lifestyle. From what I’ve heard from Sem, Townsville is full of kind and welcoming people who aren't in a constant rat race.

Living in Melbourne has helped me become resilient and adaptable in a busy environment, and I’m excited to see how I can grow in a new setting.
