Okay... okay... enough fooling around. Here is an honest description of our place so that you don't rock up with over-hyped expectations that most listings on here seem to love providing. Pros: - Really cool little place with character. - Rent is pretty damn cheap for the area ($125 / week). - Good people! - Surrounded by nature with a park and bike trail next door. - Very close walk (<3 min) to the tram stop (The 96, West Preston), and about a 5 minute walk to the 11 (East Brunswick). - NBN is just about to be installed on the 28th. - Very relaxing vibe. We have some cool red-lights that we put on at night. - Lots of fun conversations, laughter and podcast watching. - 10 minute walk to the mainstreet in Fitzroy North (Piedimontes, Eddie Gardens, Library, $6 pints at the Parkview etc. etc.) - The room you'll be staying in is furnished. - Storage room under the house. Cons: - I'll be honest, the place is small as fuck but in my experience all the above makes up for that. - Thin walls (draw your own conclusions). - Only one bathroom which is close to both the bedrooms. - Sometimes there's a really annoying barking dog opposite the apartment block. This seems to be far less frequent recently :) - Poor temperature regulation. It's usually really cold or really hot inside... first world problem ultimately but certainly a downside (we have heaters, an aircon and fan to make it a little more tolerable). An important note is that this is a short term stay for around 3 months, potentially longer but no more than 6. I will be going on an adventure during this time and want somebody to hold down the fort. The good news is that it's all furnished so you can pretty much just rock up and you're good to go. My current housemates, Hanna and Adam plan to move at some stage soon though so there is the possibility you can take their room when I'm back, but no promises. That's all I can think of. The apartment is in a complex consisting of about 80 apartments. It is conveniently located on Nicholson St in Fitzroy North, with easy access to the 96 tram (2 minute walk), the 1, 6, and 11 trams (about 10 minute walk each) that will take you to the City in about 10-15 minutes. Melbourne Uni and RMIT are easily accessible using the 1 or 6 trams (about 10 minutes away). The neighbourhood is really nice with plenty of cafe and restaurants, and also close to the Edinburgh Gardens. The complex is safe, well maintained, and the neighbours are super friendly. We have a nice central courtyard, BBQ area, and a pool. We also have a carpark in the complex with a dedicated spot for us (currently unused). Your room is the bigger of the two bedrooms in the apartment and comes with a built-in wardrobe, but otherwise unfurnished. (However, my housemate is selling basic furnishing, i.e. a double mattress and a small desk, for $100). The room size is approximately 3.6 m x 2.5 m, not counting the area taken by the wardrobe. So, enough to fit even a king size bed. We split the utilities evenly (internet, gas, and electricity), with an average total of around $25 (per person, per week). The internet plan that we are on is the NBN50 (42-ish Mbps) with unlimited data.

We have a double garage but no cars so have heaps of spare room for storage. We're a 5 minute walk from both Smith and Brunswick streets and 100m from the closest number 11 tram. The location is ideal being a 5 minute walk from the bustling Brunswick St in Fitzroy, a 7 minute walk to the lovely Fitzroy North area (where you'll find the closest supermarket being IGA Piedamontes) and just 1 minute from the gorgeous Edinburgh Gardens which is great for exercising and lazing about in with a coffee and good book when the sun is out. It takes about 15 minutes on the tram to get into the CBD and there are an endless option of nearby cafes, bars and restaurants, and even a couple of gyms within about 5 minutes walk from the house. Up for rent is a small room for just a few months with lots of natural light featuring a skylight (a window to the sky). The room for rent is featured in the photo with the bookshelf, desk and keyboard, which will be moved when my flatmate moves in. Right now, I use it as a home office and there is a sofa bed which folds out - which could be a temporary solution for a bed until you find one. The room is small (2.3m x 3m roughly), though it can comfortably fit a double sized bed. There is also a small built in wardrobe. The flat is two levels which is nice. It keeps the lounge/kitchen area separate from the bedrooms. The kitchen is small, it has a dishwasher, oven, all the kitchen ammenities and free to use cooking utensils, pots/pans, dishes etc. for cooking. The great thing is that you don't need to purchase anything unless it's something I don't already have. The is also a laundry with my washing machine that you can use. It is a private abode with a beautiful balcony that faces west to amazing sunsets. I have a little balcony garden as well as some indoor plants. Although the balcony faces the busy high st, we don't really get too much noise, a sweet little haven just 4kms to the city. The best thing about this place, apart from the flatmate ;) is the location, it has great community vibe but it's close to all the action. Walk to Westgarth station, shops, Terra Madre, yoga, cafes, restaurants and cinemas - in just 5 minutes. And there's even more Northcote High street shops, bars, restaurants, night life and too many cafes are just a walk up the hill. This is the best spot in Northcote with so many transport options: 1. Easy public transport - tram 86 (Bundoora to Docklands) and bus stops in front, Clifton Hill interchange, multiple train stations (Westgarth, Rushall, Clifton Hill with two different lines) are just 5-10 minutes walk away, you'll be in the city in just 25 minutes by train and less if it's an express. 2. Bike paths are at your doorstep - cycle to the city in just 20-30 minutes, or take the scenic route - the Capital City trail starting on the Merri creek towards Abbotsford or towards Brunswick East side. Sadly my awesome housemates is leaving me alone in our amazing Fitzy pad. If you are a chill couple or single baller in their late 20s early 30s this could be the home for you. THIS IS THE MELBOURNE HIPSTER LIFE! Located in Fitzroy's epicentre, you seriously can't beat this location. Our place is a two story townhouse, around the corner from Veggie Bar and a 1min walk from the 11 tram. The bedrooms are upstairs, your room is pretty massive and includes a walk in wardrobe and an ensuite (you lucky thing you). There is a balcony upstairs for washing too. The downstairs area is huge containing the lounge room and kitchen (just got a brand new fridge). I have been working hard to furnish the lounge room over the past few years and it's now a pretty cool space, also has a fire place we use all winter! Additionally downstairs there is the laundry and heaps seshable courtyard (there are often people over for drinks or hangs). All the furnishings are mine (kitchen outfit, couches, fridge, washer, tables, chairs, outdoor settings, art, BBQ, etc.), so dont stress about the common areas, but you will need to furnish your room (but my current housemate will probably want to sell some stuff). Rent is $360pw plus bills, so try to go easy on the avacadoes. The room will be avalible from March 1st 2019 and the bond is $2440. Standard deal with utilities and internet bills, split equaly between us. New lease starts at the begining of August and renewal is possible if we are getting along. I have a very strong preference for those who intend to stay longer than a year. Who says money can't buy happiness :P

The lovely spacious house has three bedrooms with an open-plan living area and kitchen opening onto outdoor entertaining area with outdoor deck and rear lane access. The house has central heating and split-system air conditioning throughout and is fully furnished (except for the bedroom). The rent is $290 per week and a six week bond is required. The room is unfurnished but has an internal wardrobe. The utility bills are not included in the rent and are shared amongst housemates as they come. Probably the best location in Melbourne, it is very convenient and central. A 10 minute walk to Clifton Hill village centre and a 5 minute walk to Clifton Hill station. The train will take you into the city centre within a matter of mintues. Apart from the train there is many other public transport options like trams and busses which will take you to various locations in Melbourne. Eclectic suburbs like Fitzroy, Fitzroy North, Collingwood and Northcote are just a stone throw away. Plenty of restaurants, cafes, pubs, grocery stores and cultural venues around. Not only is the suburb close the city centre it also has many great parks, walk ways, creeks and open spaces around. The current housemates are both male, in their 30s, full-time professionals, easy-going, sociable but also enjoy their own space.
