My South Yarra home is a large 2-bed light-filled contemporary townhouse, located within 2 minutes walk of the cafes, shops and restaurants of Chapel Street and Toorak Road. The number 8 tram stop is at the top of the road and South Yarra train station with its frequent services into the city is under 10 minutes walk away. The available room for my future flatmate is downstairs at the front of the property and has floor-to-ceiling windows opening on to the front courtyard. The bedroom contains a full height built-in wardrobe with hanging rail and a king-size bed fitted with luxury plush mattress and hydraulic under-bed storage available for your use. Unfortunately, there isn’t much spare floorspace for additional furniture in the room. Your private bathroom (i.e. for your use only) is at the top of the stairs (not ensuite), with shower over bath. Rental includes utility bills (gas, electric, water) and almost unlimited WiFi (Belong 1TB ADSL package per month to share between us), in addition to a cleaner every fortnight. A council parking permit is available for on-street parking in front of the house if you have a car. The open plan living area is upstairs and has full height windows opening on to balconies at both ends of the room. The single air-conditioning unit in the house is in this room and manages to keep the whole house reasonably comfortable even on hot days; ducted heating is present when it is cold. I have furnished this shared space in keeping with the modern industrial architectural style; the central item is a very comfortable Italian leather sofa. Although there is a large flat screen TV in the lounge, there is no aerial, so it is used only for internet TV streaming via a FireTV stick. In addition to the usual microwave, hob and fridge-freezer, I have a Nespresso coffee machine and dishwasher in the kitchen area available for use.
