I'm Catarina a 33yo girl from Portugal, recently moved to brisbane and working as a postdoctoral researcher at QUT.
I'm into all things outdoors, especially if they're ocean related (did a stint back in 2017 working at the GBR as a marine bio/reef guide), but also very happy to go out for hikes/climbs. My work is at the intersection of marine biology and computer science, so I also am a bit of a nerd. I like going bouldering and to the gym once or twice a week, hope to be able to cycle around mostly everywhere, and hope to get out surfing somewhat regularly. I also absolutely love keeping and propagating houseplants, as well as gardening!
I'm not super into elaborate cooking at this moment in my life, but I am big on mealprep. This means I usually spend one or two evenings in the week cooking, and mostly stay out of the kitchen for the rest of the time.
I'm not a party person, don't go out regularly and don't drink or smoke. I can, however, say yes a quality rave once or twice a year, and I do enjoy chill live music and just hangouts on a porch or garden. My social battery isnt huge, so I definitely have an introverted side, but can also be a chatty cathy when my energy levels are high.
I see home mostly as a private space, and prefer to share a place with people who feel the same way. Having partners over and occasionally hosting isn't a problem though. But parties and having groups of people over regularly definitely is a big no for me.
A clean and calm environment is really important to me. I prefer a housing situation with regular cleaning habits, when the kitchen is left clean once the cooking and eating is done, and to walk around barefoot in a clean floor. I also clean as a stress-coping and procrastinating mechanism, which my housemates usually appreciate ;p. I also prefer a minimalist vibe to the house with no clutter and that facilitates easy cleaning.
I also prefer when listening to music or watching videos on a phone are headphones-on activities. I generally appreciate and abide by a 9pm-7am silent time, as I value my sleep quality (very!) dearly.
I like to think of myself as a chill, kind, respectful person and a good communicator. I ask questions and don't make assumptions and appreciate the same courtesy. I also prefer to share a house with people who approach house sharing from a 'this is our home to care for' attitude and not 'i have my room and there's a common kitchen' attitude. I've been house sharing basically all my life, and hope to keep doing so!
I don't have any pets but am happy to share the house with them, so long as boundaries and responsibilities are agreed upon - as a baseline, I expect things like cat litters and feeding trays to not be placed on common areas.
