Our place, a large weatherboard house nestled in the peaceful glades of Ivanhoe, is just a short walk from the station, two major supermarkets, an organic health food store, post office and numerous decent cafés. The room is upstairs and has wooden floorboards. We are open to applications from people of all ages and persuasions. Our only stipulations are that we are only considering non-smokers, and we already have a cat, Lizzy, so dogs are likely not compatible. In addition to the $817.00 per month rent there is a bond amount ($700) and also we each chip in $120 a month into the rent account to cover auto-payment of all bills (including unlimited NBN100 internet), toilet paper and other shared essentials. No bills on the fridge! We have found that things run smoothly this way, and help to maintain harmony. We are a "zero politics" household, and intend to keep it that way. The property is next to a bus station with great bus services which take you to Ivanhoe station in less than 5 minutes, and to the CBD in less than 30'. Plenty of green areas around the house and in the suburb. The property got air-conditioning and heating system for common areas, and plenty of space in the backyard and in the front.

The household is a bit communal, mostly vegetarian and has a large veggie patch. The house is in a very quite area with lots of trees and the household itself is also mostly quiet. The house is a nice old 3 bedroom art deco house in Ivanhoe. Close to Eaglemont Station and not far from Ivanhoe shops. Local bus to Ivanhoe Station and La Trobe Uni. The room is furnished - it has a queen sized bed with sheets and doonas, a huge built-in wardrobe and a set of shelves. The house holds up well to hot days and for winter it has hydronic heating. The dining and lounge rooms look out onto a picturesque front garden. There is a large back garden. The house has an attic with some storage space available. The house is cat friendly (has a cat door etc.). Sorry, no dogs.

Ivanhoe is a cool suburb with a lot of greenery and fairly close to the city. Upper Heidelberg road has some great restaurants (chei wen is an awesome little bar), and a neat gallery nearby. The unit is great and airy with big rooms that let a lot of sunshine in, my wife and i love this area and plan on staying here indefinitely.
