The house and the room are very spacious, light and airy. It is centrally located, with a short walking distance to the tram, train and local shops on Errol St. There are no real house rules, other than respect each other and be considerate. The house shares general cleaning and washing products and take it in turn to clean the communal areas. The room is a lovely ensuite, on it's own floor it is 5.8 x 4m and has room length wardrobes - so plenty of storage! The window faces on to the terrace at the back of the property and on to a very quiet street. It also has its own dual air conditioning / heating unit.

We are on the edge of the CBD across from the Royal Melb Hospital - walking distance from Melbourne Uni and RMIT city campus'. Errol street, Lygon street and the CBD are easy access so food, drinks etc are sorted, plus the Queen Vic Market for cheap groceries and entertainment. Trams 59, 19 and 58 are right on our doorstep and the Flagstaff and Melbourne Central train stations are an easy distance (walking or via tram). We have air conditioning, heating and a pretty large balcony. The living and dining space is open with the kitchen to one side, and there are wooden floors in the joint spaces (carpet in the bedrooms). The bathroom is large and in good condition. Our neighbours are generally quiet and friendly and we are located on the second floor - there is a lift. If you live here you will need to fill out an application (for the estate agent) to be on the lease: we are not sub-letting. There is also a transfer fee of $110 to be paid to the estate agent to be on a month-to-month lease. Rent is paid monthly and bills are not included (though you will probably be saving on public transport). We have a secure underground parking space but it is currently occupied with a motorbike. There is paid street parking available and you can also apply for a resident permit. There are heaps of car-share designated spaces on our street including GoGet, Green Share and a few others. The bedroom has in-built hanging space and we have a bed frame, 2 x matching bedside tables and a mattress for sale (pictured) if you want furnishings. We have had a cat live here for about a year (though will be moving out with the owner) so if you have a pet that is ok living indoors and the real estate agent is all good with it, then it should be fine.

Unique house. Massive stone wall in the middle of a large central void makes the inside look like a castle. Warm in winter thanks to large pot belly fireplace. It's fully furnished. I have a Jardan couch the size of a boat, all white goods and kitchen equipment. Your room is large, there is a desk and a double-bed. It has a built in bookshelf and large built in wardrobe with room for clothes and other storage above head. It has a double window that has a nice expansive view of North Melbourne and looks over Shands lane. The street is beautiful, we are on a lane that comes off Canning street, which is entirely shaded by a canopy of plane trees. There is a small shopping area two blocks away with an IGA, post-office, and a really good cafe (Pocket). I am a doctor at Royal Melbourne Hospital. I work full-time, and have something on every evening, so I am mostly just there to sleep. The only caveat; it's too warm in summer and there's no air-con. I use a standing fan that works well at night.
