About me

Hello, my name is Simon and I've recently returned to Sydney after I moved back to Adelaide due to the covid scare, which ultimately I wish I hadn't. Oh well. I was working in corporate IT in the city (Surry Hills area), because I was able to do the job remotely from interstate.

My interests are: chatbots & AI, Mazda MX-5 (miata) driving and maintenance, futuristic and archaic spiritualities. I have a science (hons) degree in organic chemistry and biochemistry.

Now, I've returned to Sydney, and I'm hoping to remain here long-term.

I'm very easy-going with respect to whom I live with. I think I can put up with basically anything, including noise at any time of day or night, I would prefer to live with someone who is earnest enough to keep the place clean and tidy, yet loose enough to not go ballistic over minor grievances.

I'm a writer/documenter, software engineer, corporate-world kind of person, but pretty forgiving and warm with my friends. I'm the kind of person who will wash your dishes along with my own, clean up other people's messes without fuss, so long as I don't feel it happens all the time and I'm being taken advantage of. That said, I still don't care very much about the usual gripes housemates have with one another. I believe in karma, so I'm always keen to be useful.

It's hard to explain, but I'm very conscious of the fact that share-house arrangements can be stressful and exposing, but I tell you, whatever it is, I'm cool with it. And, I actually get quite a kick out of working with people's idiosyncratic habits. "To each, his own" and I'm cool and discrete with the whole spectrum of people out there. I'm not going to ruin your day, and if you'd prefer we kept our interactions to a minimum, hey, that's fine, too. I really have much bigger things to worry myself over.

I'm 49 years old and I've pretty much seen it all lol. And, I can appreciate it.

Honestly, if you're looking for someone who can fit in (or around) with, you're looking at him. I do things like clean up the garden, deep cleaning chores etc., I basically enjoy it. I don't hate (or even dislike anyone!). For example, thinking back to the last time I lost it (got angry) was when a housemate threw a freshly cooked brisket from the fridge into the trash before I'd even had any, and all I did was throw out their soup, angrily. We had a laugh about it afterwards.

I guess I'm saying all this because if I were the householder looking for a flatmate, I'd want someone like me - practical, absolutely NON-JUDGEMENTAL, friendly to every frequency on all the spectra.

Note: I smoke cigarettes and cannabis, coffee and wine, but all in moderation, and happy to smoke only outside.
