Akila Isuru Elangasinghe

Hi! I’m Akila, an incoming PhD student in Engineering at UTS. I’m from Sri Lanka and have spent the past two years in Germany completing my master’s degree. I’ll be spending most weekdays in the lab (located in Botany) or in the main UTS campus, so I’m usually out during the day.
I’m generally introverted and tend to keep to myself at first, but once I’m comfortable, I’m always up for a good chat! Having lived in shared housing in Germany, I’m very familiar with keeping up shared responsibilities and maintaining clean, respectful spaces. In my downtime, I enjoy running, cooking and relaxing with my PS5.
I’m currently in Sri Lanka preparing for my move, so a video viewing would be greatly appreciated, though I also have friends in Sydney who can attend an in-person viewing on my behalf. My realistic move-in date is mid-November onwards, but I can be flexible. My budget is $350–450 per week, and I’m initially looking for around three to six months, with the possibility to extend if the place feels right.
