I love animals (especially natives), mountain runs and hikes. I help look after the bush in practical ways. My wildlife photography is unusual and popular. I can show you if you like.
I meditate a lot which makes me easy to deal with. I don't drink alcohol (whilst I don't mind if you do in moderation), and don't smoke, vape or use other recreational drugs.
I’m mostly introverted whilst I get chatty, and would partake in communal activity about once a week, depending on common interests, or simply taking turns to prepare a meal. I have fairly mainstream Australian attitudes and see the funny side of life. I don't talk about myself very much however I make jokes about what's happening in my day, either inside my head or sharing verbally with others.
In most ways I run circles around younger versions of me, so I see age is an advantage. I’m single with no pets or kids. I'll have a boyfriend in the future but don't want one right now. I don’t have frequent visitors, and when I do it’s one or two people who are very considerate and well behaved. You can let me know what are good times/days for me to have visitors.
I’m detail-oriented so I’m comfy with detailed house rules and if I have an annoying habit, just let me know and I can probably change it. I want you to feel very relaxed having me stay.
During April 2026 I'm very focussed on working quietly on my computer, either at home or in my van (so I'm away from home for part of the day), so I'd be mostly unseen.
I always appreciate the need for personal space/time in a household.
Here are some accurate reviews of me as a house guest:
“Joanna is a kind person who knows what she requires for her stay to suit and is able to communicate it well. She considerately understands and appreciates the hosts perspective and takes nothing for granted.”
“In her short stay Joanna was a considerate guest. She communicated well at all stages and left the room clean and tidy.”
“Joanna stayed for 15 days in the end! My longest term guest yet! She paid promptly each time we extended her stay, was considerate of my privacy and that of other guests and was low maintenance. Joanna is a little "Kramer"* like in a good way, different yes, but in a world of "beige" people I found her interesting, kind and unerringly upbeat and optimistic. I allowed her use of my kitchen for the duration, which I never do and she always left it spotless.
I can absolutely recommend her as a person of extremely high principles and character. If you enjoy people who arent "cookie cutter" bland, positive in outlook, super intelligent*, passionate about nutrition and animals and that you can be direct with, Joanna is a great guest (almost house mate after 15 days!!!)
“Joanna was delightful, and very much an animal lover, and we would welcome Joanna back at any time.”
* I’ve got a somewhat quirky manner as did the sitcom character “Kramer”. Like everyone else I’m smart in some ways, and less smart in others.
Similar to job interviews, brief chats during inspections are often unrepresentative. Therefore I'll bring to an inspection prepared written statements about myself, in more detail than my profile, and a list of questions, (and am happy for you to do likewise) so our chat is part thought-out and part impromptu, and covers all topics.
I don’t have a specific rental duration in mind. I’m also lucky to have backup accommodation.
The usual 3 months minimum is fine. A 1-2 week tryout is also very welcome - great if it works out, no problems otherwise.
I'm only looking for a property outside of built up areas, so since my search is quite focussed I've requested inspections once to twice a month. I will typically request an inspection 2 days in advance.
Accepting of: 40+, couples, LGBTIQ, kids, pets, retirees and students.
I reply to hosts who've read my profile. My low response rate is due to my current habit of not replying to SPAM.
Flatmates has my mobile number, but I'm 'unverified' because I'm not keen to upload photo ID, however I can let you know where I've done so in the past.
Thank you for reading! :)
