Redlynch, Cairns

Hi there!

We're hoping to find a wonderful person to be our fourth housemate in our lovely Redlynch home.

We're all women in our mid to late 20s working in the environmental industry, and in the world's briefest elevator pitch, we have:

Me (Lara) - a 28-year old ecologist, originally from Brisbane and pretty easily defined by my love of birds. When I'm not out exploring waterfalls, you'll typically find me enjoying my latest tv episode in the living room or tending to the frog pond, and would always be keen to hear about your day and be a partner-in-crime on adventures.

Sharlee - a 25-year old marine biologist and science communicator, who saves the world one day at a time in her roles at the Cairns Aquarium and the turtle rehabilitation centre on Fitzroy Island. I don't believe I'll meet anyone in my lifetime who loves turtles more than Sharlee!

Laura - a 27-year old botanist, who has recently returned from an incredible 3 months of fieldwork in the Ecuadorian cloud forest, after having finished her PhD in pollinator syndromes last year. Laura loves spending her weekends outdoors and is always on the lookout for new hikes and activities.

Our house vibes are what you'd expect from a bunch of enviros, with it being a crafternoon, boardgames, nostalgic movies and cups of tea kind of place, and we're looking for someone who'd fit in well with this style.

Ideally, we're hoping for someone of a similar age and who wants to stay long-term to avoid the sharehouse revolving door, but we'd be flexible for the right person - we'd prefer a minimum of 6 months. We're not sure of exact dates yet, but we'd be looking to fill the room in mid-February at the earliest.

Unfortunately, a few deal-breakers for us are:
- Women-only household
- No couples
- Non-smoker
- No drugs (light social drinking is all good)
- No children
- No pets
- Must have a reliable income

Our home is located in Redlynch, and is a 20-minute drive to the CBD and about 15 minutes to the beaches. Right around the corner are Crystal Cascades and Stoney Creek, as well as Redlynch shopping centre. Although we live right near several bus stops, we feel that having a car would allow you the best lifestyle for this location.

The room offers plenty of space for a double bed and desk combination as pictured, or a queen bed by itself. It has both a working fan and air conditioner, with a 2-door built-in wardrobe. The room looks out onto the backyard, with lots of natural light throughout the day being in an ideal south-east position.

The shared bathroom has the toilet, vanity and shower & bath all separate, offering the best possible arrangement for sharing with two other housemates (I've never found myself queuing for anything).

We have an open-plan living room, dining room and kitchen, with a spacious butler's pantry and lots of storage space in the garage. There's a separate media room that also acts as the guest room/gym/reading nook/art studio. Outside is an undercover patio, with both an armchair and hammock that looks out at the beautiful Macalister range.
