About the property

Room with own kitchen, lounge room and bathroom in classic Darwin louvred ground level house which catches daily cool breeze from the sea along the Rapid Creek basin.
House has very large Indonesion style thatched gazebo overlooking the swimming pool with kitchen, tv, sound system, sofas, bbq and outside bathroom where the owner and his associates cook and live (with bedroom inside).
This leaves the room renter with the inside lounge, kitchen, front porch and bathroom basically to themselves. The inside lounge and kitchen has been freshly painted.
Smoking is accepted in the outside areas (not inside).

Of course the various areas are not completely mutually exclusive. The new tenant is welcome to hang out in the gazebo when they feel like it (it's especially good for entertaining and is comfy cool for reading etc with thatch, fans and sofas) and I will sometimes negotiate to use the lounge room inside to play and maintain my harpsicord (a C17th copy keyboard musical instrument I rebuilt myself) as it lives there. I also have a piano in my bedroom.
The cool shady pool and garden areas are equally shared by all.
Tenant can also use the outside screened bathroom along the side of the house if they want to shower in the shade of the giant pandanus trees!
Rent is $250/$320 single/double.

About the flatmates

Hi I'm Scott a 59 year old quietly gay music educator (NT Dept of Ed) and long time resident of Darwin/Arnhemland. Also in the house intermittently are a couple of friends from out of town who come and go. Also visiting occasionally from Brisbane will be my daughter, her new baby and husband who will stay for a few days.

The house can nicely accommodate two quite independent but nicely connected households. One - for you the tenant(s) - based in the inside lounge, kitchen, bathroom and front porch. The other - where I hang out - based in the back outside gazebo, kitchen and bathroom. The cool pool and garden with various sitting areas are equally used by all. I would love to get my once prolific (and presently sadly neglected) vege garden up and running again if anyone is interested.

As mentioned above the spaces are not mutually exclusive, but there is a nice independence built into the set up. I reckon friendly, helpful independence works really well here.
