We love this humbly appointed home! The rent is quite affordable, and this comes with some compromises.
We're open to sharing with a couple, and the rent will be higher to account for this. The rent for a couple is $275. All bills will be split evenly among us. In the winter, the bill is approx $100 each per month. In the summertime it is lower, around $50 per month. This doesn't include internet.
There is no central heating. In the winter we use oil heaters and electric blankets. The sunroom is lovely year-round, catching breezes in the summertime, and radiating heat in the winter. The house is built to retain warmth.
We don't have space for a tumble dryer; in the winter we use the sun room to dry our clothes. There is no dish washer, and the stove + oven, although functioning perfectly, is electric and rudimentary.
We've previously had NBN internet and have all the hardware to quickly re-establish it. At present, we find it more cost-effective to use our individual data plans. We can discuss our internet connection needs during the house inspection.
If you smoke (Jessie is a typical bus driver who smokes on occasion) you're welcome to smoke in the large outdoor areas.
We have a very long driveway that accommodates one car, first-in-first served. Alternatively there is ample on-street parking with no fees or permits required.
There may be some possibility to have a second cat, if you have a kitty, pending real-estate approval.
All housemates are required to apply to be on the lease, and the real-estate will check out your references and ability to pay rent.

You will be sharing with myself (Jessie) and Cat. Cat is 38yo and doing her PhD at UTAS, and Jessie is 35yo working as a bus driver, and also studies part-time at UTAS.
Both of us love the outdoors, Cat enjoys rock climbing, and Jessie is a keen touring cyclists and former bicycle mechanic. We both love to cook, especially fermenting foods like sourdough, Kombucha, and Cat loves to make different pickles and potions. Cat is originally from the Philipines, and Jessie grew up in rural NSW.
We have a large and lazy cat called Bruno, who simply loves being good company, cuddles, and food. Bruno is fed by automatic feeder to avoid people needing to feed him. Also because he is food-motivated and can be manipulative when it comes to getting an extra biscuit or 1000 🤪
When we're not busy at work and study, we like our relaxation time around the house. Jessie plays a few instruments, including the piano in the pics, which housemates are welcome to play also. Cat is very busy with her thesis, but is always keen for a chat or a cup of tea.
We both live frugally, which means we cook a lot of meals at home. Cat is an excellent cook, and we both love sharing food + ideas. Jessie is a keen baker, and a couple of fresh loaves of sourdough are shared among us every week.
Cat has a partner, Dexter, who lives in Adelaide and visits for the weekend every few months.
We love interior design and have worked hard to enhance the beautiful 70's features of the house with furnishings, plants and artwork.
