About the property

We own a large (45-ish sq), well-appointed, modern 5-bedroom, 3-bathroom, split level home (4 levels) in a very lovely part of Mt. Martha, so plenty of room to move. It is our family home and all our children are grown up and have moved on.
My husband and l moved to Sydney in 2016 for his work so we are rarely at Mt Martha. We have our own private area upstairs in the house if we are around.

We have one bedroom available to rent.

Looking for a person aged 33 - 50 years old for a downstairs bedroom. (Non-smoker, no pets please) You will share a bathroom with one of the two male housemates already living in the home, so another male would be preferable or a female that is comfortable with the arrangement.
We have two male housemates in total.

Available for rent to the right person is one fully furnished bedroom, fitted with TV, walk-in wardrobe, double bed (pls supply your own bed linen and towels). French doors from this bedroom open on to deck and garden (which can be used as your own entrance if you wish). This bedroom is located downstairs and also opens on to our pool room (w pool table) and a compact bathroom to share with a neat, tidy and friendly male housemate who has lived in our home for over 2 years. The room is available after the 31st March 2021 for 6 - 8 months.

The housemate we are looking for will be a friendly, very clean, neat and tidy, sociable, easy-going, trustworthy and responsible person. Non-smoker and no pets, working full-time.
The house and bedroom are fully furnished so it is suitable for a person without their own furniture.

We are positioned in a lovely spot that has a rural feel, it is a quiet location with lovely walks. We are a 2-minute drive/20 min walk to Mt. Martha south beach and village shops and public transport.
Off-street parking is available which is a bit of a luxury in our area (not under cover).

We have a large beautiful garden that surrounds the house offering several pleasant sitting and entertaining areas, a barbeque, a vegetable garden, 1 dog (who travels with us), and 4 chooks, so, unfortunately, we CANNOT accommodate your beloved pets.

Occasional basic garden duties ie occasional lawn mowing, watering would be appreciated. We have a garden guy in during each month to keep an eye on fertilising and weeding and keeping the garden tidy.

There is shared access to a large well-equipped modern kitchen with caesar stone benchtops, DW, MW, modern appliance's/crockery are supplied for you to whip up your meals and is situated in the main part of the house.
A large fridge for housemate shared use is provided in the main kitchen which is separate from the family fridge. There is also a large bright laundry with a dryer and access to the clothesline.
Living areas being the main lounge/dining area situated off kitchen then a few steps down to a family room which also has a large TV/DVD and basic Foxtel pkg included. The TV has Netflix capability if you have an account.
The family room has double glass sliding doors to close off if required. So there are plenty of spots to sit and relax. French doors and/or sliding doors are fitted in each room of the house, so you can open up and wander out to the deck and garden from every room in the home.

Downstairs at the rear of the home is the pool table area for all to enjoy.

Daikin reverse cycle air-con systems throughout the house and "Heat and Glo" fire in the lounge area, also a central heating system, so cool in Summer and cosy in Winter.
The bedroom to rent is a good size, carpeted with WIR. The compact bathroom to share with one other male housemate has a tiled floor and the rest of the home has beautiful timber flooring.
We are house proud people and love sharing with those who would appreciate and care about our home as we do.
A few house rules to observe to ensure the smooth running of the household, just “the norm” mostly about being respectful of others, and areas shared, the usual cleaning duties. We encourage communication to keep balance.

We will be back from Sydney over Easter to visit family and friends and to interview potential housemates between 4th - 8th April 2021.

Rent includes bills, Wi-Fi, with renter supplying and cooking own meals and clean up after self. The two housemates you will share with are busy doing their own thing but also love a chat, coffee, a wine/beer, perhaps an occasional meal when it suits. The right person will be made to feel very welcome; we maintain a great atmosphere here as we select our Flatty's carefully. Must supply own pillowcases/bedsheets/towels, please.

About the flatmates

About us, some background….

My husband and I have 4 adult children doing their own thing elsewhere. We also have a well-behaved dog (when we are at home, as he travels with us) and 4 resident chooks producing brilliant eggs.

My husband and I are rarely at home in Mt Martha as we have lived fulltime in Sydney since 2016 for employment reasons.

We visit Mt. Martha from time to time to see family, friends or attend the occasional event. We have our own area upstairs when we are in town or we stay elsewhere. We do arrange a return sometimes to give the garden a big clean up or attend to general maintenance. Generally not around much and won’t be in anyone’s way.

The two housemates you will share with have easy-going attitudes and enjoy a drama-free home. When paths do cross, enjoy a chat, perhaps a meal together and definitely an occasional wine/beer. It is a happy household.

The housemates enjoy their own space so will respect your privacy as well. Very friend and family-oriented, they work full-time on week days and/or weekends. They are fun but not mad party animals, stay fit at the gym, enjoy a good movie, heading to the beach, enjoy all the Peninsula has to offer when they have spare time. Love playing pool, a barbeque and visiting their friends. Both have a fun sense of humour.

We purchased our home in 1985. We have spent decades renovating and extending it ourselves, as we raised our four children. It has been an absolute labour of love and we are passionate about the area. Created our beautiful garden as well in that time. It was originally an 11 square cement-sheet holiday shack which we have developed into an almost 50 square weatherboard home now. It is more than just a house to us, it is apart of us. This is why we choose housemates carefully as we love our home and want it to be looked after and respected.

We have fabulous neighbours. A very caring environment all around, quiet location not far from beach and shops. Our home and location provide an amazing lifestyle.

So we are looking forward to sharing with respectful, tidy, clean, like-minded people with great personalities. Must love dogs (when he is in residence) chooks and appreciate a nice place and fully respect that our home is very special to us and will keep it in great condition.

Please understand, unfortunately, we cannot accommodate your pets because of our own.
