I’m renting out a private, furnished bedroom with its own balcony in a two-bedroom apartment on Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, right outside the 333 bus stop.
You’d be sharing the apartment with me and my very friendly cat, Shimmy. The flat is fully furnished, light-filled, and well set up for comfortable inner-city living.
This is a lively location and suits someone who enjoys being in the heart of things.
The Apartment:
- Two people only (just you and me)
- One shared bathroom (excellent water pressure and has a bathtub)
- In-unit washer and dryer
- Dishwasher
- Fully equipped kitchen (large fridge, new oven, new stove, rice cooker, crockpot, French press, etc.)
- Multiple balconies + shared garden area
- Great natural light and city views
- Secure building
- Internet included
- TV with Netflix
- All furnishings shown in photos included
- Linens provided
There are three balconies in total:
• a private balcony for each bedroom
• a shared back balcony where I keep my garden
You can see fireworks displays from the apartment, and during Mardi Gras the Oxford Street balcony has an unbeatable view of the parade.
The Room:
- $520 per week (bills included)
- Double bed (linens provided)
- Private balcony overlooking Oxford Street
- Set of drawers
- Linen cupboard storage
- Bedside tables, lamp, Mirror, Balcony furniture
The room is slightly smaller than the main bedroom and doesn’t have a built-in wardrobe, but there’s good storage provided and I am happy to make more room as needed.
Location:
- 333, 396, 373, 420 bus stop directly outside (city + beaches)
- 10–15 min bus to the CBD
- 20–25 min direct bus to Bondi or Coogee
- 35–40 min to Maroubra
- 10 min bus to Centennial Park
11 min walk to Town Hall
9 min walk to Gadigal Metro Station
20 min walk to the CBD
15 min walk to Central Station
Bike lanes right outside; ~5–7 min ride to the Opera House
Stanley Street and Crown Street are a 5-minute walk with great bars and restaurants.
Being on Oxford Street means nightlife, cafes, events, and transport are all on your doorstep.
I can arrange a permit for street parking if you have a car. Otherwise, you can arrange parking separately in the building. Usually, someone is renting out a spot.
Note on Noise:
Because the apartment is on Oxford Street, there is some traffic and street noise, particularly during peak hours and weekends. The room suits someone who is comfortable with inner-city living and can adapt to normal city sounds. In return, you get an unbeatable location, light, views, and your own private balcony.
The Vibe:
This would suit someone ...
- who already lives inner-city or wants to
- who values location, light, and convenience
- who is respectful, tidy, and relaxed
- who is happy sharing with one person and a cat
If that sounds like you, feel free to get in touch with a bit about yourself.

Hello,
My name is Emilie, and I’ve been living in this flat for the past four years. I’m easygoing and low-drama, but I value a home that’s generally clean, calm, and well looked after, especially as I work from home on a book.
I’m not rigid about cleaning and don’t run a chore chart — I’m fine with the occasional dishes in the sink or things being a bit messy sometimes. What matters more to me is shared awareness: noticing when something needs wiping, cleaning up spills, and putting things away properly without reminders.
Personality-wise, I’m friendly, open, and independent. I’m hoping to live with someone I genuinely get along with — someone I can share the odd meal or glass of wine with, have a laugh, and feel comfortable around — while still respecting each other’s space and independence.
I spend most weekdays writing and most weekends riding horses. I enjoy running (sometimes with encouragement), reading fantasy and sci-fi, and cooking when I’m in the mood.
My ideal evening is a glass of wine in the bath with a good book, though I also enjoy hosting the occasional gathering. If it’s Mardi Gras or Halloween, I fully commit — glitter, costumes, the lot.
I keep a small garden with fresh herbs, which you’re very welcome to use.
Ideally, I’m looking for a housemate who’s open to becoming friends, not just coexisting.
Cheers,
Em
