Blackburn South, Melbourne

We are a working couple renting the upper floor of this two storey home to overseas postgraduate students. We are friendly, easy going people; happy to chat and share the occasional meal with you. We will also afford you your privacy and peace and quiet that you can expect from a privately rented room. WiFi is free and unlimited.

We live downstairs, and will rent the entire second floor - 3 bedrooms upstairs so you will have your own privately shared bathroom (with bath and shower) and separate cubicled lavatory with wash sink (please see pictures). There is also a living area with a large couch and balcony overlooking a large treed park with sporting facilities (cricket nets, tennis and basketball courts, football ground all available for use - tennis courts require membership and payment). We also have a back deck on the ground level with a BBQ, if you would like to use that.

The home is 10mins walk to large shopping complexes at Brickworks (Woolworths, Asian grocery store, restaurants and cinemas) and Burwood One (Coles, Aldi, shops, and restaurants), and the tram and bus (train is a bit further away) can take you anywhere in Melbourne. Deakin University is a 5min drive or 20min walk and tram. We can make a car available for hire (for a fee) for a trip or day but you will need to have a licence and let us know in advance.

You will have access to space within a large fridge and freezer and also cupboard space to keep foodstuffs. You will also have access to our fully equipped kitchen (with condiments and spices available for you to use - we are of Malaysian (Indian and Chinese) and Vietnamese descent and do a lot of cooking at home. There is a dishwasher that we run so your cleaning up will be fast and easy.

There is a laundry available with washer and dryer and we can arrange to help you to wash and dry your clothes twice a week, as part of your rent. We wish to minimize water and energy waste so that's why we wish to manage the laundry and dishwasher. This will all be part of your rental. If you wish to do your own washing then you may of course do so at a laundromat nearby.

The home is centrally heated and air conditioned but we will only use the heater in the evening and early morning and the air-conditioning if it's extremely hot. The house will be kept at a comfortable temperature.

We will vacuum upstairs (including your rooms) and clean the bathrooms periodically, as maintenance and also to ensure that everything is being kept in reasonable order. We will also help to change your sheets and bedding monthly.
