Sophie

My name is Sophie, I’m 29 years old and originally from Austria. I’ve just received the opportunity to complete a research stay from February until the end of April at St George Hospital in Sydney to continue working on my PhD in Psychology, focusing on rare chronic illnesses and quality of life.

Even though, I have lived with my fiancé for the past 3 years, I have around six years of shared-living experience in flats with between two and six people, which I’ve really enjoyed. What matters most to me in shared living is open and honest communication and being considerate of one another. I genuinely enjoy living with others, and would love to take this stay to experience it again. For me, an ideal home is a relaxed and friendly environment where everyone feels comfortable having time to themselves when needed, but also enjoys the occasional shared moment if it naturally happens — like cooking together or chatting after a long day.

In my free time, I enjoy pilates (especially reformer pilates), dancing, reading, meeting friends, and traveling around the world whenever I can. I would also really love going for walks by the beach, which feels very special to me, as it’s not something we have in Austria, and I truly appreciate being close to the ocean. Overall, I live a calm and respectful lifestyle, am open-minded, enjoy meeting people from different cultures, and I don’t smoke.
