I’m moving back to Canberra because my mum has cancer, and I want to be close to her. I’m currently between jobs, but I have my finances and rent securely sorted so you never have to worry about my rent being covered. I'm naturally quiet, respectful of personal space, and not looking for a party house. I want a home that feels safe, warm, and low-stress.
I come with two senior cats (both over 10 years old). Their names are Gigi and Pierre. Gigi is very curious and friendly and is eager to meet new people and will rub herself up against you, but that doesn't mean she is ready for you to pat her. She needs time to get to know and trust you, so it is better to not try to pat or pick her up as she may take a swipe at you and growl to warn you to back off. Pierre is very skittish around new people and will run and hide if you get to close to him. He likes to take his time and watch from a safe distance before he feels safe enough to slowly explore his surroundings. He comes across as very aloof and if you get too close he ducks down low out of fear and may hiss at you. I believe this behaviour comes from being mistreated by someone he had trusted in the past. He doesn't even let me pick him and will only let let me pat him or give him a chin scratch after spending hours carefully watching me and makes up his mind it's safe to approach me. The both spend the majority of the day asleep on my bed. They are inside cats and only go outside occasionally under my supervision. As they are older cats they don't like loud noises and can't live with other animals. So I'm looking for a household that understands and respects their boundaries. Living with pets means I am extra vigilant about cleanliness. I keep my space and the litter areas spotless, clean up immediately after myself in shared areas, and pull my weight with household chores.
Rent and bills are always paid on time. If anything ever needs discussing, I’m a big believer in calm, direct, and kind communication.
While I’ll be spending a lot of my time with my mum or job-hunting, I’m always happy to share a warm cup of coffee and a friendly chat when we cross paths.
I'm looking for like-minded, mature flatmates who value a quiet, safe home and are happy to live with (and respect the space of) my two o
cats. I prefer to live in a quiet, harmonious, and grounded sanctuary where I can decompress. I value a drama-free household built on mutual respect, open communication, and cleanliness.
