If you dread getting up early for those 8am lectures, then this is the house for you! Located just a 5 minute walk from UQ Chancellor's Place, living here offers immediate access to the University of Queensland. A variety of shops at Hawken Village (IGA, KaiKai Fried Chicken, bakery, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, fish and chips and more) are only a 3 minute walk away. Bus stops at UQ Chancellor's Place and Hawken Village mean it is very easy to get around - if you are headed to Roma St. then the 412 bus will take you there, or if you are headed into Adelaide St. and beyond then take the 411 bus. If you want some larger shops, then it is also easy to get to Toowong Village (Coles, Woolworths, David Jones, fruit and vegetable store, pharmacy etc.) using either the 411 or 412 buses (15min journey). It is also easy to get to Indooroopilly Shopping centre for more shops and a cinema by taking the 428 bus. The available room is situated on the ground floor of the house, is well lit and enjoys good cross ventilation, so doesn't get overly hot during summer. We are on a quiet street, so you don't have to worry about noisy neighbours. The room itself is slightly over 3m x 3m, so plenty of room for a queen size bed and desk, plus some activities! A deep cavity under a staircase offers plenty of storage room, but you will need a chest of drawers or hanging rack for your clothes (I found this kind of adjustable hanging rack works really well (and is cheap): https://www.bunnings.com.au/all-set-84-x-41-5-x-101-167cm-single-bar-adjustable-height-garment-rack_p2590221, and there are similar items available at Kmart, Ikea etc.) You will be sharing the downstairs bathroom (toilet, shower, handbasin) with one other person, so you won't have to worry about queuing to use the bathroom. There is also enough storage space for all of your toiletries. The weekly rent is just $122, although this doesn't include internet and bills. Internet is $10/month, and electricity and gas combined are usually around $50/month. Water is paid quarterly, but is around $50-60. The bond is a bit strange, and based on the total house (not just the room) so comes to $780, but that is obviously refundable. The last lease signed was for 12 months, so ideally you would be able to commit to another 12 months, but it would be possible for you to leave after 6 months if you so wished. Overall, this is a very affordable place to live in St Lucia! The room will be available from the 16th November, but if you are looking to move sooner then this date can be negotiated.

INTRO: the room is pretty large and in a good location. 5 minutes walk to UQ, 2 minutes walk to IGA, restaurants and bus stops(412, 411 and 428). Room and entire house are fully furnished with new furniture as u can see through photos. The house is a two story Queenslander with 5 bedrooms (this is the second biggest one), 3 bathrooms and a big swimming pool in the backyard!! We do a big cleaning each fortnight so it's clean and tidy. Extra bills are internet and electricity. They are shared among five people therefore pretty cheap around 70 per month in total. And sometimes free for one month electricity(no idea why but surprise!!)
