Hey there! We are looking for a person to fill a room in an aging, but comfortable house in St Lucia soon to be vacated by myself (a PhD student). The house contains 3 bedrooms in all. Two rooms are occupied by: a male 27 yr old engineering student (Rob), and a female 34 yr old social scientist (Julia). The room is a cosy 3mx3m square that comfortably fits a desk, double bed, and wardrobe. If you think it’s a bit tight, worry not! Storage in and around the house is vast. This room shares a bathroom with Rob (the other has an en-suite). The house has a very large communal living room area, and a fully equipped kitchen including a dishwasher. The house is light and airy, with a large back deck overlooking a leafy backyard. The house is a Queenslander-type build, and has an upstairs for living and an open downstairs that can be used for storage. The washing machine is located under the house (which is currently owned 3 ways by all of us – subject to discussion if you move in). There is ducted air conditioning for the hotter months, which comes in handy, but when the doors are open a great breeze can blow straight through the house. There are 2 undercover car parks, which rotate over time based on who is moving around. The location is great for UQ and surrounds. It’s a 30min walk from UQ, or one minute walk to the bus stop with frequent connections to UQ (5 mins), Toowong, the city and Indooroopilly. The houses surrounding us are quiet which makes this house a pleasure to live in. Hi peeps! :) Looking for a housemate and soon to be friend to fill a room I currently have available in a unit I've recently taken lease on. Like you, I was also looking to move into a place on flatmates, however, found it hard as I needed quite a bit of room to setup some gym equipment in a garage and a sim racing setup I've just built (used to race cars, now at uni, so this is my fix haha). So ended up searching for my own place to lease and after weeks of looking and over a dozen inspections, I came across this great, recently renovated little apartment and managed to secure it! Within my searches this was easily the nicest place/best location I came across for the price. :D Room details: - Bedroom has a great view overlooking a scenic gully in St Lucia, from the 3rd/top floor. - Includes ceiling fan and built in wardrobe. - Big enough for a queen size bed and small study desk, however, it would be a little tight at the foot of the bed, but definitely workable. - Room dimensions are 2.4m X 3.25m. - Carpet floor - Unfurnished Modern, recently renovated bathroom which is to be shared with only myself. Has open floor plan shower, large 2 person bathtub, toilet and basin in the same room. Living area I have just furnished with excellent condition leather couches, tv cabinet and new 55" 4K TV as of last weekend. Some side tables and/or lamps may be next. Living area also has a ceiling fan and air conditioning. I generally don't use air-con too much though to save electricity. You'll have access to surprisingly quick internet with unlimited data throughout the apartment with the setup I've sorted with TPG, which will be $7.50 p/w once split. :) I've also furnished the majority of the kitchen with mostly new appliances too, so all you'll need is your own food and cooking utensils (sauce pan/pots etc). Kitchen is recently renovated in line with the rest of the place and has a dish washing machine, oven, electric stove top, toaster, kettle, drip dry rack, large fridge/freezer, microwave and plenty of storage space in the cupboards should you need it! The unit also has a laundry inside the apartment (sort of in a large cupboard lol) with front loader washing machine. Have also supplied new iron, ironing board and cleaning utilities for use. Also has a large balcony with table and chairs, over looking the same gully you can see from your room. Perfect for an early morning coffee or afternoon chill spot. Balcony has a built in clothes line too. The place comes with a large double car space garage, with one of them being lockable and the other just outside of it, but undercover. My gym will probably take up around half (possibly less) of the lockable garage, however, it is free to be used by yourself and with me being a personal trainer, I actually encourage you to use it! Haha. Even greater if I can coax you into being a work out buddy, but won't hold it against you if not. ;P Nonetheless, the rest of the garage is free to be used mostly as storage area and I'm happy to give the outer under cover car space to the person moving in. My car will enjoy the street lol. :) One of my favorite things about this place with me being a UQ student though, is the location! It only takes 7mins to ride my push bike to UQ, which is amazing if you're studying there like me! This is one of the big reasons this place stood out to me, saving me upto $50 per week on traveling and parking costs. I may be overly excited about this lol, but last year I used to travel 2hrs a day via bus and car, so yeahhh, it's kind of a big deal ok. :P So it's exceptional for uni students or anyone that just wants to be a stones throw from the city for work. Rent and Bill costs will be split and are approximately as follows: Rent= $210 p/w Electricity= approx. $15 p/w (may vary slightly depending on use) Unlimited Internet= $7.50 p/w Water is included in rent, as long as usage is kept under 200L per day per person and there are no gas fees. This home is ideal for anyone wanting to move in to a comfortable, ready to live in place, where you don't have to outlay any further costs, besides furnishing your bedroom. The property is a large, well kept, two storey house, situated high upon a hill on a quiet one-way street. There are three of us in at the moment and two of us have dogs - that is to say, a dog each. Mine is a 2 year old Border Collie and Josh's dog is a 1 1/2 year old Japanese Spitz. They're both incredibly sweet and friendly. The room itself is upstairs on the same level as the kitchen and laundry. It has beautiful wooden floors, a high ceiling, and remains remarkably cool with its large windows letting air pass through. It also has very generous cupboard space. There is also a large, soft rug. Regarding transport, the university is a 20 minute walk away, and there is also a bus stop just around the corner with buses running every 10 minutes to the city or uni. Taking the bus to uni will take about 14 minutes in total, including walking time. The room is ideal for university students, as it is very close to the University of Queensland, or for anyone who wishes to be close to the city. No couples please...it puts a bit too much stress on the amenities if you take my meaning.
