You will be sharing the house with two others friendly students from UQ and our housemate is leaving us. The three bedrooms upstairs, including this room, share a clean and large bathroom. Downstairs is semi-separate and has its own bathroom. This room is well sized, with a daybed-style double bed with mattress. This bed frame can be made into a single bed if preferable. Mattresses for this is available at the house. The room has space for a desk and small wardrobe, but currently it is only furnished with the bed, and a purple wool rug. There are large, new, block-out curtains that cover the large French doors, to block out the sun, if needed. Otherwise, a great breeze flows through the doors when opened, keeping this room very cool during summer. There is a Border Collie living on this property and another cute dog, and there is a grass backyard, and concrete patio for eating and generally hanging out. There is a washing machine and dryer in the house, and a clothes line outside. The kitchen is well stocked, with a powerful induction stove, dishwasher, and everything else you'd expect from a kitchen. ABBQ is also available. The benches are Caesar Stone. In the bathroom, is a large shower, with great pressure, as well as a large spa bath. We are close to UQ; 25 minutes walk, or 14 minutes by bus (including walking times). We are a 10 minute drive to the centre of Brisbane City, and close to Toowong and Indooroopilly Shopping Centres. Our street is very quiet, with only local cars occasionally passing by, and hardly any audible sound travels from main roads in the area. Im looking for a house mate to rent a room in a beautiful house at Ninth ave, St Lucia. The house is close to Uq campus, 4' walking to bus stop 412 to city, 2' to 428 Indooroopilly. Firstly sorry for the lack of photos, it's too dark currently so I had to trawl through our Facebook group and upload some random old ones...so no those are not all the people you are living with but it is pretty much like that! We are really close to the University of Queensland (3 minute walk conservative estimate) as we are across the road from the residential colleges. It's pretty much living on campus as from my department's building it is closer to go home than to other parts of uni. And also a 3 minute walk to shops, restaurants and bus stop to the city (if you're a slow walker). It takes 15-20 minutes by bus to the city if it is not rush hour which is actually really good. Really awesome and super convenient location! Can't stress enough how awesome the location is. I can wake up 2 minutes before my lecture starts and ride my bike to uni (lazy but I can literally get to my class within 1 minute door to door if I ride). When I was first moving in I thought it might be too many people as there are 7 housemates total but the house is big and it never seems like more than 4 people live here unless we are having a movie night or a BBQ or something like that. Currently we are 3 girls, 4 boys but 2 of the boys we pretty much never see anymore because this is crunch time for them. Compared to the location it is really freaking cheap because there are 7 of us living in the house. $165 a week paid fortnightly so $330 a fortnight and water, electricity and internet are paid monthly but consistently average around $15 a week so very easy to budget (so about $180 a week total). Bond is 4 weeks rent so whatever $165*4 is...$660? Also when you leave it's suuuper easy to get your bond back (unless you totally destroy something...). Most importantly internet is unlimited and speeds are pretty good compared to the rest of Brisbane. Other things you have are a shelf in the fridge (we have 2 big fridges) and some freezer space. Also you get a lockable pantry to yourself. Also I forgot to mention your room is lockable too not that you will ever need to but it's good to know you have the option. The rooms are fully furnished with a table, chair, king single bed (bigger than a single but smaller than a double), bin and the thing where your clothes can go built into the wall. Kitchen is also fully stocked with pots, pans, dishes, cups, oven, microwave, drying rack whatever kitchen stuff is normally in a kitchen. If there isn't something you probably haven't looked hard enough because there is a surplus of kitchen stuff. Also an awesome sofa set up and TV and speakers for music. We have a washing machine and dryer too. Stuff that isn't supplied are bed linen, pillow cases etc. Maybe blankets or there might be some in the closets in the long hallway. All you need to bring really are clothes, yourself and $$$ to pay rent...and your wonderful personalities but I was assuming that as a given. The room is available from the 22 September 2017! But if you need to crash we have spare mattresses and a huge comfy sofa you can stay on to save you from spending money on a back packers. The ratio of boys to girls is usually 4 girls 3 boys but somehow while I was away working in the outback last summer they replaced all the girls with boys rather than with girls so we became an all boy house...and that really changed the house dynamic...also it's more fair that both girls and boys get to live in such an awesome and convenient house. Currently we are 4 boys and 3 girls, then when the Swiss guy will moves this time we will either still be 4 boys and 3 girls or 4 girls and 3 boys (I feel personally from experience the latter is the best ratio for house dynamics). House is pretty clean. We have a big garden out back (for St Lucia anyway) which is nice and these cool coloured lights we can turn on in the backyard at night! Everyone who has ever lived at 75 Upland leaves with tons of good memories and says it's like a big family and that it's one of the best experiences they have ever had so it's well worth considering.
