About the property

Cyclone Alfie UPDATE – We were lucky, pheww! Thankfully, with 430 plus mm of rain, ‘ocean front views’ and paddocks of water with nothing else to do, our pre-1974 house in 36 years of living here, dodges another bullet and remains high and dry. The trees stand tall. And busy birds mop up worms. Not everyone was so fortunate. Our thoughts go out to folk dealing with flood and wind. Thank you to community who always pitches in. We're better together.

About the flatmates

A Bit About Me
I’m Owen, a therapist working with NDIS clients, helping people around Ipswich improve their lives. I also run a small recycling business, Reward Recycling, collecting 10c containers as a side hustle to do my part for the planet. When I’m home, I use the downstairs space for occasional private therapy sessions.

When I’m not working, you’ll find me surfing, camping, or playing soccer. My motto? "I’d rather be surfing." I work about four days a fortnight and spend the rest of my time getting lost in nature.

I love the relaxed, peaceful lifestyle this home offers—and I think you will too. There’s no pressure, no agenda—just a welcoming, bed-and-breakfast-like vibe. It’s a balance we’ve been fortunate to maintain over the years, thanks to the wonderful people who’ve shared this space.

My wife, Liz, and I have been married for seven years. Liz is based on the coast and "sends me off to work." She’s a foodie, a Thermomix Consultant, and a talented jazz singer.

The home’s thoughtful design and welcoming touches are all thanks to Liz. Meanwhile, I focus on the garden, which is my happy place.

If I ever finish writing my book (yes, I’m working on one), it’ll be about freedom, wellbeing, longevity, happiness, and abundance. The Creek Escape reflects much of that vision—it’s a place of heart and art, surrounded by nature.

Right now, the property is a bit wild and overgrown (thanks, rain!), but it’s thriving with life. The plants are happy, the water table is full, and the trees are brimming with birds and animals. We are also about to do some landscaping around the yard and a few more updates inside.

What Others Say About The Creek Escape:
Over the years, we’ve had people of all ages and walks of life stay here, often for a year or two before moving on for jobs or relationships. They’ve all said the same thing—the house has a great vibe.
* Shane (45) stayed for five years and called it “one of the best places” he’d ever lived.
* Heather, fresh out of university, stayed while preparing for her Master’s degree. She described the space as relaxing and easy to fit into, a perfect home base for her next chapter.

What seems to make this place work is the balance—people get along without being intrusive, and everyone appreciates their own space. We’ve been fortunate to have attracted people who truly fit here, and they’ve kept the energy of the house positive and welcoming.

We look forward to welcoming the right people into this space and continuing its story.
