Hey!
Hugh, Fletcher and I are looking for a new housemate to fill our light and cosy downstairs bedroom - ideally for a long-term outlook.
The room (photographed with previous furniture) measures a massive 3.6m x 4.8m and currently comes furnished with a queen bed + frame and a comfy Koala couch (that folds out into a sofa bed), but both can be placed in storage if preferred. There's also a newly installed split-system AC/heater, as well as large built-in mirrored wardrobes along one wall.
About 3.5 years ago, Hugh and I moved into this recently renovated 1940's house in Kallista. It's in a quiet, peaceful dead-end street right within the national park, but only 6 minutes from Belgrave and Monbulk. We've got plenty of walking tracks close by, with friendly king parrots that share our balcony and you can hear the sounds of kookaburras all around us. I've even been training the parrots to eat out of my hand! We also have a beehive and hopefully in the next 12 months we'll be getting some chickens too.
Our favourite parts of the house are the kitchen and living rooms. With a huge fridge, new oven, dishwasher and massive island bench, our kitchen is stocked and ready to cook up a storm. We're all big fans of cooking, baking and of course eating.
The living rooms are both very light and bright, with a great view and plenty of room to spread out. We've got an old upright grand piano if that's your thing and a fireplace in the living room for extra cosiness which is perfect for movie nights.
And speaking of movies, we've got a solid TV setup with surround sound speakers and all the streaming services you can think of.
Downstairs is where you'll find your bedroom along with a bathroom (incl. shower and separate bath), laundry and another bedroom which is where you'll find our other housemate Fletcher who is a 23yr old tradie and a really nice guy, he has been living with us for about a year now. The laundry is communal but the bathroom would only be shared by you and Fletcher (who likes keeping it tidy).
We also have a double garage that has a fully equipped home gym, a drinks fridge and space for some storage too. You'll also have a dedicated car spot at the front of the house. Further down the hill we have heaps of garden space. We're on half an acre so there's seriously a lot of space, and we're keen to plant out some veggie patches soon and we'd love to live with someone who is interested in gardening. At the very bottom of the backyard is a big shed that could be used for more storage too.
We've been living in sharehouses for a long time now and we've always loved having a really communal household - over the last few years, we've enjoyed taking turns cooking meals maybe one night a week and sharing some groceries too. We want to live with real people, not just randoms so we'd love to find a housemate (or a couple) who would like to keep that style going. That being said, we're pretty introverted and often keep to ourselves playing video games or doing our own thing.
Bills: all very straightforward, we're keen to keep all bills inclusive of rent, which of course includes firewood too.
I think that's about it really! We're more than happy to keep the existing bed/frame and couch in your room or you can arrive with a blank canvas. Our house is well-suited to backpackers/travellers wanting to explore Melbourne or those who are already familiar with the area.
*We're also open to couples or a dog, but rent may need to be adjusted, which we can talk about over the phone or something*

You'll be living with my partner Hugh and me! Hugh is 31 and works in mental health. Hugh's big passion is cooking and loves to bake as well, usually with a glass of wine in his hand.
I'm 35 and manage the operations for a not-for-profit disability services provider. I originally studied horticulture so I'm a big fan of gardening and animals. Aside from that, I like exercise and we both like board games but our main hobby is video games, but we also like watching movies/tv series as well.
To describe our personalities, I'd say we're pretty quiet and relaxed people. I usually work from home and Hugh works hybrid so we're often at home and up for a chat.
Our housemate Fletcher is in his early 20's and works as a tradie / excavator operator, usually all around Melbourne and can sometimes away for work during the week. He likes to hang out with friends, cook, watch movies and hit the gym. He's also been practising his piano!
We're looking for someone (or a couple!) who would mesh well with our rather special home.
