This is a 2-bedroom, 1 bathroom (shared) flat in Oakleigh. I live in one of the bedrooms and am looking for a flatmate for the other bedroom. One person only, no couples.
This is a beautiful sunny flat in a tree-lined street at an exceptionally convenient location within 5-10 mins walking distance from the restaurants and cafes of the lively Eaton mall, Coles, Woolies, Chemist Warehouse, fruit and veg markets. The house is 7 mins walk to Oakleigh station, 15-20 mins walk (or 10-min bus time) to Chadstone Shopping Centre, and 20 mins bus time to both Monash Clayton and Caulfield (10 mins by train to Caulfield campus).
The flat is located in a green and secure block with a security gate. It is South and East facing with big windows, so it is brightly lit throughout the day. You can watch the sunset from the little balcony that has a hanging table, which is also a great spot for brunch on summer mornings.
The house has an open plan living and dining space, and is fully carpeted, even in the bedrooms (sorry no pets). I have lovingly set up and decorated the house. The kitchen features a stove+oven, cupboards, and even a wine rack. There is a fridge, microwave, toaster/ sandwich press and electric kettle, a large couch, a dining table and chairs, TV, a wall heater, ironing board and iron. We have all the basic amenities in the house. There is ample storage in the house, with even a small attic for additional storage.
The bathroom has a sink, big shower, washing machine (no dryer), a separate laundry sink, and heat lamps that are great in the winter.
Your room has a large window that lets in plenty of light and overlooks the trees on the property. The room comes with a single bed with electric blanket for winter nights, side table, built in closet, drawers, large mirror, desk and chair, shelves, a coat hanger rack, and a table fan for the summer nights.
The flat isn’t big, but it’s cosy and feels like a home away from home. We also have one off-street covered parking available. The landlord and property manager have been happy with how well this flat has been kept, so they are quick with repairs and rental increases have been slow and small.
You will need to be approved by the landlord and property manager, and will go on a lease. I'm on a monthly lease with them.
All bills are shared, YOUR SHARE of the costs are:
- Rent: $977.5 per person per monthly calendar (total house rent is $1955 per month)
- Lease: Lease is a month-to-month agreement with the landlord via his property manager, you will be on the lease agreement
- Bond: $977.5 your share
- Electricity: Monthly as per bill received from electric company (divided by two)
- Water: Due quarterly as per bill from water company (divided by two)
- Home NBN: $46.5 per month (total NBN bill is $93 per month)
- Furniture and appliances rental: $50 per month (I'm renting nearly everything from someone else, I only own a few things in the house; cost is split between both)
- No gas bills, we have induction cooking
- Household expenses (dishwashing liquid, tp rolls, cleaning items, etc used in the house, items and expenses shared between both): usually between $20-40 per person per month, bills will be provided

I'm currently working long hours and am usually locked in my room. In my free time, I enjoy running (though not much with work now), volunteering at a local museum, and catching up with friends at cafes in Oakleigh.
I've lived in 4 countries with people from different backgrounds. I’m friendly but more on the quiet side and would prefer someone similar.
I’d prefer a female flatmate but am open to anyone who cleans up after themselves, is considerate of living in a share house, and pays bills on time. The flat is a great fit for students or staff at Monash.
Non-smokers only, as I have a breathing condition
