I'm a 41 year old California native whose been living in Auckland for the last 7 years with my wife and young daughter. I'm an American Football fan (Tampa Bay Buccaneers), but I find joy playing and watching almost any sport (basketball, touch rugby, ping pong, rock climbing, and hoping to get immersed in AFL). I've been a software engineer and leader since 2008. I enjoy playing board games (Terraforming Mars, Cascadia, Catan, Munchkin, etc), computer games (Civilization), and console games (Madden, Battlefield, God of War, Dark Souls, etc). I'm an avid reader of fantasy and sci-fi books (currently reading Stormlight Archive from Brandon Sanderson). I'm also friendly towards LGTBQ+.

As a roommate, I mostly keep to myself since I'm reading, researching, playing games, or coding side projects. I'm friendly and chatty when we cross paths in the kitchen / living room spaces. I don't have people come over and while I do talk loudly, I keep the volume of my devices low or wear headphones. I clean up after myself immediately and don't touch other people's stuff.

As for my current needs, my family and I are emigrating from Auckland to Melbourne. I'm coming in advance of my family by 2 months and will land on 17 November with the goal of setting up all our accounts and find a long term place for us to live. I'm looking for an affordable private room to rent while I do all that, and my family won't be staying with me in the room at any point once they arrive.
