I am/was a Chief Engineer on a small ship supplying the Torres Strait Islands. I live in New Zealand, with my family, but work FIFO in Australia. My job is on hold due the Middle East situation so I'm going back to study so I can do bigger & better. The Engineering course I've enrolled for is full-time and runs through till 25th September. I drive boats as well, I have been doing fishing charters and harbor & party cruises in my spare time. I like to be busy.
Living at sea I am used to a life where you have to respect the people, the communal space and the right to privacy and peace.
I'm easy going, I like intelligent conversation, I like to know how and why things are, as they are: what makes things work and can I make them be better. (That's why I'm an Engineer).
I'm fairly fit for my age, but not as fit as I would like to be (a nasty car accident set me back from doing a lot of hard physical stuff), but I will never be a couch potato. I can jog around the block but a marathon is out.
I enjoy good food and good wine with good company, although now I check the health factor of the good food :). No special dietary requirements. I have eaten a range of ethnically diverse meals although I'm not a fan of brains or eyeballs and for ethical reasons I won't enter a place that serves live monkey brains.
My cooking style tends to be European/Eastern Mediterranean/Kiwi
I have traveled a fair bit, I spoke German and Turkish although both are very rusty through lack of use.
