We are seeking a warm, caring, and reliable person to become a long-term housemate for a wonderful young woman named Mia. This is a unique opportunity for someone who values meaningful connection, enjoys building community, and is passionate about supporting someone to thrive in their home.
ABOUT MIA
Mia is an outgoing and empathetic 28-year-old who enjoys an active lifestyle. She works three days a week and loves swimming, triathlon training, attending social groups, musicals, movies, shopping and spending quality time with friends and family. Mia has a mild intellectual disability and appreciates a housemate who is supportive, friendly, and reliable. Mia is looking for a house-share arrangement anywhere between Ringwood and Richmond and walking distance to a train station.
THE HOUSEMATE ROLE
As a supportive housemate, your role is to provide approximately 10 hours per week of companionship and basic support. This includes:
Routine Assistance: Providing gentle prompts for morning and evening routines.
Household Support: Sharing in daily tasks, such as meal prep, cooking together, and maintaining a tidy living space.
Companionship: Building a genuine friendship through chats, shared interests, and social connection.
The specific schedule of your support hours will be collaboratively decided to fit well with your work, study, and personal commitments.
How You’ll Be Supported
You won’t be doing this alone. You will be fully supported by Mia’s dedicated care team, family, and specialists. Her support worker team will continue to assist Mia both at home and in the community, ensuring a collaborative and supported environment for everyone.
ABOUT YOU
Has or is willing to obtain National Police check.
The Right Fit: You are a female who either has a room available or is willing to look for a lease in the Richmond Ringwood, or Hawthorn areas. (Close to the train station)
Qualities: You are naturally caring, a clear communicator, and patient. You enjoy mentoring others and helping them build life skills.
Stability: You are currently work casually, part-time, or full-time.
Collaboration: You are able to work respectfully and effectively with Mia’s wider care team and family.
Preparation: You are willing to engage in training and complete a compliance onboarding process.
Values: You are a positive, supportive presence who can help Mia keep her well-being on track.
