Even small mercies such as free Opal trips or a coffee under $5, are all but gone— along with your hard-earned money.
The ridiculous cost of living is most evident, however, when it comes to housing. Whether you share, rent or own a place, you’ll know all too well that property bargains in the Harbour City are rarer than unicorn poop.
Recent data analysis by Flatmates.com.au found that just 38% of rooms listed in Sydney during the third quarter of 2016 were valued below $250 per week, compared to Melbourne where it was 79%.
So to help you find a cheaper place sooner, we’ve further analysed the 38% to find the suburbs that had the most listings under $250. These 20 suburbs accounted for over a third of all sub $250 rooms during Q3, so your chances of a bargain* are pretty good.
*Only considered a bargain for those in Sydney.
