Dang it, this listing is no longer available. Checkout other listings in Brisbane.
Our lovely house has two levels: the lower level has only one tenant (Edward, 28) with its own space (kitchen, living room), the only things we share are the common outdoor areas (pool, garden, shed) and the washing machine (which is located in his bathroom downstairs). He is very quiet and thoughtful, so noise has never been an issue (and vice versa).
The upper level (the one we are advertising) has three very large bedrooms (all with built-in wardrobes), and very well equipped common areas: a large kitchen (with dishwasher, stove-top electric cooking and a brand new oven), a large outdoor, covered dining area (with 4-burner BBQ), a very large living room, a well-equipped bathroom (with both a shower, and a bathtub), and separate toilet. All of this in a modern, clean setting, with timber flooring throughout, and a lot of light! The house also features a beautiful pool in the garden (amazing that time of the year for cooling down).
The bedroom we are advertising (Room 2) is very large (16m2, see photos), it has a large, modern built-in wardrobe, as well as a built-in chest of drawers. It gets plenty of light during the day, but has blockout curtains for your afternoon naps. It overlooks the pool and the garden.
All of this set up in a quiet, very leafy neighbourhood and only a short drive to shops (Aldi: 6 minute drive, Woolworths: 7 minute drive), close to public transport (Park’n Ride on Logan Road, buses to Cultural Centre on Cavendish Rd), just a few minutes to the M3 motorway and straight into the CBD. It is also a great location to cycle to the city using the Veloway 1. If you like walking, running or mountain biking, we have several large parks nearby (e.g. White Hill reserve).
Additionally there is a garden shed and a lock up garage (currently used for storing all our push bikes), plus some more covered, off-street parking, and loads of on-street parking. And did we mention we have a vegetable garden (with chilis, aromatics, tomatoes and so much more)?
We are leasing the house through an agency (Place Bulimba). Our lease conditions requires any new tenant to be first approved by the landlord, and then to be added onto the lease. This does not mean you have to stay for the entirety of the lease, we are happy to discuss shorter periods as long as they are agreed upon in advance, or that we get sufficient notice. There is a 4-week bond, deposited with the RTA (as is standard).
The upstairs common areas are furnished with the essentials (fridge, dishwasher, electric oven, large leather couch, dinner table, outdoor table, 4-burner BBQ, hammock, etc.) but we can always accommodate more furniture in the common areas if you have some you’d like to bring. The rooms are not furnished, but we have two cars and are happy to offer some help moving or acquiring furniture if we can.
Rent does not include utilities, which are split equally between all the housemates (5-way with the downstair tenant, thus keeping the costs low). This includes electricity, water, internet and pool chemicals (the pool maintenance being already included in the rent). Note that the house has a small solar power system which takes care of some most the extra electricity cost for the pool (pump and chlorinator). In previous share houses, these costs were typically less than 20$ per person and per week.
Unfortunately, Bertrand is allergic to both cats and dogs, so pets are not welcome. He is also allergic to dust mites (yes, he is that fragile), so it is important to limit the amount of non-washable fabric items in the common areas (e.g. carpets).
The move-in date is flexible, the current housemate is looking to move out between the 15th of November and the 15th of December.

We are Camille (29) and Bertrand (28), a French couple looking for a new housemate to live with us in Holland Park. We’ve been in Brisbane for more than four years now, living in sharehouses all this time (and have met some amazing people while doing so). Camille is a Communication Manager for a Renewable Energy startup, and Bertrand is working as a Software Engineer after finishing up a PhD at UQ in Computational Biochemistry last year. We love Brisbane and are here to stay!
So how does living with us look like?
We are usually quiet during the week (busy with work and sports) and are very tidy and clean. On the week-end, we like getting out of Brisbane to enjoy the outdoors (camping, bushwalking, surfing or just going to the beach); other hobbies of us include cycling, rock climbing, or the occasional board games. From time to time we like to invite some friends over for dinner and our roommates are welcome to do so too.
Bertrand likes to make stuff with his hands (woodworking, fixing bikes and cars, and gardening); Camille likes to practice Yoga and read a good book. We usually spend three weeks in France in the winter and always come back loaded with good food and wines to share. We are a "no drama" couple so no fights between us and a good vibes policy applies to the house as well. We try our best to be eco-friendly in the way we live (composting, recycling, mindful use of water and electricity).
We love living with people with whom we can have a good chat, share a plate from time to time and if our interests intersect, why not do stuff together - but at the same time we totally respect other people’s space and need for tranquility sometimes.
The other housemate, Yana, is a 28 year old part-time bookkeeper, part-time artist. Her hobbies include painting (surprise, surprise!), yoga, board games, brewing kombucha, reading, learning the dragon staff and a super occasional ukulele jam. Yana has an immense love for animals and intuitive dance/movement. She is super-chill, easy going, and tries to live life with a positive outlook. She likes to be helpful to others and pretty much always up for phat chats, but she sometimes keeps to herself if in the midst of a creative process.
We are looking for like-minded people (ideally, full-time workers in their late 20s early 30s) to make a place we’d call home, with roommates we’d call friends :).
We are also looking for people who are happy to take ownership of the space, and used to sharing chores to maintain the common areas clean and tidy. If you like clutter-free houses and cleanliness, this house is for you.
We’d loved a gender-balanced and inclusive house. We are LGBT friendly and welcome any nationality of course. If you feel like you’d enjoy the way of living we described, hit us up so we can get to know each others and make sure we are a good fit.
Cheers ;)
