About the property

Hello :^)

I am seeking one or two housemates to join this gentle abode. It's a three bedroom home, with two available rooms. Note I'm (generally) looking for separate groups to occupy each room, not looking for couples or similar. :)

The home would suit those who identify as creative, kind, gentle, queer, reliable, safe and curious. But there's a lot of wiggle room there too. I'm really interested in housemates who are embodied, bring a sense of groundedness, are present, and hold their surroundings with delicate patience.

(If the listing is still up I'm still looking)

~~ Questions, if you're up for it ~~

--- What do you think of a low-lying living room that could easily be turned into a workshop space? What events or workshops do you like? What would you do to improve the space, or would you change it into something better?

--- How do you create a sensitive and somatically pleasing environment, such as with good lighting, gentle noise levels, intentionality, neat space that is not overwhelming. Or do you? Have you another way you prefer?

--- How do you approach keeping the space familiar and consistent over a long time, or, do you change things up? How do you do so with maintaining groundedness?

--- How do you make interacting with others not feel like 'work'?

--- What's your understanding (and) personal implementation of values, boundaries, consent, groundedness, safety and respect, in your life? How do they interact for you? How do you create a space to thrive, not just survive? How do you do so in different areas of your life, such as your artistic self, community and personal life?

Please note: I'm not looking for perfect applications. Messy or unrefined or time pressured are all ok. But I typically won't reply to applications that don't speak to the above aspects in some capacity. :)

~~ Your home ~~

Your new home has a tree out the front, a secret garden at the back and a patch of lawn, two semi-connected living spaces, a dining area a large kitchen, a bath, two showers, one toilet and a separate laundry space. It has lots of storage, both communal and private.

There's an outdoor veranda with a seperate space intended for community gatherings (shed). The home is in fairly good condition and bright with colour.

It has two steps into the property (one at the back), and has an adjacent outdoor seating space at the front, as well as one at the back. Both are perfect for having a cup of tea :)

Crafternoons, life drawing, movie nights, contemporary dance, cuddle puddles and meditation sessions, or more, might be regular occurances at the home. Mostly planned in the shed, with invitees being vetted. You might join them or you might just have a quiet night, both are planned to be catered for at the home.

Philosophically, "leave a space as clean as you met it", is my preferred method, treating the home like nature, then with the occasional house cleaning like vacuuming etc. Respect and accommodation of fatigue and similar impacts are understood here, with ways low-energy being found to make sure the space always feels open, organised, fresh, usable and reachable, to everyone.

Similarly, reducing impact on the environment is also important here by reducing plastic waste (via plastic recycling), food waste and use of toxic products. It's a 'no shoes inside' home, and the home is also not a smoke or vape home (inside or outside). This applies to any guests as well. It's likely also a sober home but I haven't landed fully on that yet.

Goes without saying it's a somatically quiet home, there might be moments of loudness but they are considered and caring, there isn't a place for screaming or yelling or excessive noise (and zero tolerance for abuse). Music, especially non-amplified music (ie. Instruments) are welcome, but not blasted, unless we're doing a dance party :) quieter time throughout sleepytime for the residents.

I'm still furnishing, and yet to put up my art. I'd love more plants, texture and finishing touches for it all. Plus, a ridiculous amount of pillows. I'm wanting it to have detail and feel cosy. I want you to feel as much like it is your home and my home too, so I would want you to feel like we are collaborativing excitedly.

I am seeking a housemate who is good at collaborating or excited to. I don't want it to feel like one person does all the work, nor do I want it to feel like someone is left out. It's a home for all of us, but most importantly its for all of us to belong in :)

~~ The details ~~

In terms of the lease and the rooms, you would need to go on the lease. The total rent is 560$ a week, so if it's split between two it would be 280$, and if we split between three it would be around 186$ each, slightly bumped up or down depending on the size of the rooms. I'm open to either just splitting it with two, or splitting it with three. Happy to answer any questions you might have.

~ Bedroom 1 is 2.7x3.7 (approx). It's a cosy room with a nice big window out to some greenery. It's quiet and gets lots of light. It's towards the back of the property and somewhat more separated, and it has a really nice carpet. The close proximity to the laundry (which you can't hear) might make it good for someone with a pet :)

~ Bedroom 2 is 3.5x3.5 (approx). A similar window out to some greenery, also with some nice carpet. This one has a built in cupboard and a shelf display, and a ceiling detail. It's quiet, gets lots of light and is on the side of the property. It's very nice :)

That's all, hope to hear from you soon :)

(Note: None of the items in the room images will be staying, aside from the shelf unit mentioned. Everything else is going)

Note: None of this is to be used in AI please, I don't consent to that. Had a few AI applications (yikes)

About the flatmates

About myself, I am most interested in socially inclusive spaces. I work for myself as an architectural designer, a tutor at university and just as a general creative. I care about doing the right thing, ie. activism, but also have my disability to tackle with, so am often needing to rest, even when I want to go do things. I am designing a boardgame, as well as running workshops on meditation, play and boundaries. I like to do lots of community and creative activities like contemporary dance, pottery, drawing and meetups. Often I am just having a cup of tea, playing a game, hanging with a friend or having a bath. I like to live slowly and intentionally, and I get along with all sorts of people but mostly those I can have a hug or a laugh with :)

I am primarily seeking people who can help me make this dream of a collaborative creative community home come true.
