This home feels like an oasis. Although a short bus ride to the city (30-40 mins express) or UNSW (15 mins), you'll feel like you're living in a coastal town, with lovely, leafy and ocean views and lots of birdlife.
You'll be sharing a large, renovated home with a tropical style garden. It's very close to the National Park and ocean, with Malabar and Maroubra beaches and local shops and supermarkets a short walk away.
There are three bedrooms upstairs which is bright and airy and has two large balconies, one with expansive ocean and bushland views. It's a wonderful place to sit with a coffee in the morning or a beer in the afternoon. There are two bedrooms and another bathroom downstairs, but mostly only one person will be living downstairs.
The available room is medium size and can be unfurnished or furnished as you need. It includes a comfortable, clean bed, a small built in wardrobe and looks out onto palm fronds.
The home has a fairly new, spacious kitchen, refurbished balinese style bathroom and separate toilet, large L-shaped living/dining with study/reading nook overlooking the ocean and has polished floorboards throughout.
It's in a lovely, quiet neighbourhood but a very short walk to bus stops and easy walking distance to a supermarket, pharmacy, takeaway shops, post office and pub. There's also plentiful and free unlimited street parking - a rarity in parts of this suburb!

Current flatmates are an Aussie and German guy in their thirties, both working in trades and out of the house a lot, and will shortly be seeking another flatmate for downstairs. I'm a middle-aged professional Aussie woman who also lives downstairs but am mostly away travelling with work. We lean more to introverted, and although we all get on well and have the occasional chat, we tend to hang out in our rooms a fair bit and go to bed early on weeknights, so the house is fairly quiet. We value a drama-free home and the household has a nice, calm vibe and we like to communicate clearly to nip any concerns in the bud. We'd prefer a long-term flatmate as we like a feeling of stability in the household dynamic.
We are looking for a single housemate (sorry, no couples) who is responsible, friendly and respectful of other’s space; who appreciates a clean space and tidies up after themselves, doesn't need to be nagged to pay the rent and is considerate of others. We keep the common spaces tidy and clean, so you'll either be in a housework roster (not very onerous) or kick in extra for a cleaner, as negotiated with the household.
This is definitely not a party house, although the occasional visitor is ok with agreement from the other flatmates. The house is in a quiet, family-oriented neighbourhood and flatmates would need to respect the neighbours. We value sustainability and recycle/compost and minimise energy use and prefer someone with similar progressive values. We are open-minded about age/gender/occupation/ nationality/sexuality of flatmates but want people with values, consideration and courtesy.
