Tico

Earlier this year I traded the calm, rustic fields and rivers of Holland for the deserts, mountains and blue seas of Australia. I went up the snowy mountains to work a ski season, then left those to experience tropical island life in Queensland. After travelling all over the East Coast, I am happy to be back to where I started my journey: Melbourne. As an Amsterdam boy I felt immediately at home after I set my first foot here in this country. I promised myself that I would at one point set up shop in Melbs, and properly live here. Now seemed as good a time as any, and so back I am. Both back home, as well as here, I’m a chef, and I have been working kitchens all over Australia in the past months. I consider myself pretty skilled at what I do, and do love me a good communal house meal. Together, cozy or ‘gezellig’, as we famously say in Holland. Since a couple of years I’ve been pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming an actor. So if say, you’ve found a theatre show you want to see, or some obscure Korean arthouse film from the 80s you want to check out, or just want to talk about the newest episode of that sick new tv series, I’m your man! It’ll also mean that I’ll be taking some acting classes here in the city, to keep up to date with my work. I’m a great lover of music, and the many many variations of it. I love going to gigs, parties and festivals. At the same time I do believe in the proverbial ‘man’s home is his castle’, so don’t worry about me turning the place into a club. I’m 32, and though that does not mean I’m an old man (yet), it does mean that I’ll value my rest when I come home from a long, hard’s day work. For though I’m travelling, I’m doing it in a different stage of my life than when I was 21. I’m looking to learn more about myself and others, their cultures and world views.
