Hi I’m Freya, a 22 year old orchid enthusiast, nature lover, and hopefully the newest member of your sharehouse.

I’m a fairly introverted non-smoker with a motorcycle that I use as substitution for an actual personality.
Originally from the beautiful blue mountains in NSW (Dharug/Gundungara country), I’m moving down to Naarm to study agricultural science full time later this February.

I have no pets, but as an animal lover I’ll always appreciate a cuddle with furry, scaly or feathered housemates. Tend to keep to myself around the house, but always up for a chat over dinner, or to plonk down and craft in front of the tv with housemates. Spend most weekends out on the bike adventuring, and tend to be up and about early and in bed early too.
My decor style is fairly maximalist, but I like to keep my space fastidious (if not a little cluttered). You’ll no doubt catch me manically tidying common spaces on one of my cleaning rampages.
I’m not somebody who enjoys hosting house parties, asides from my brother or a couple friends over for dinner if they’re in town (tend to get all my partying done at bush doofs and renfaires).

Hobbies
-foraging & food preservation: I forage a large percentage of my diet, and always have some weird culinary creation or ferment to share.
-avid bushwalker: I’m always out bush or fantasising about the next creek swim or swamp wander.
-bushcraft survival skills: really into learning and teaching traditional skills, currently focusing on cordage & weaving, hide tanning and tracking.
-birdwatching & field naturalist: pretty much a perv for anything floral or faunal.
-various crafty pursuits: my room is rarely without a WiP, mostly found object sculpture or the occasional dodgy painting.

Dealbreakers
-I am dead against living with an outdoor cat, love cats, but can’t stand irresponsible owners letting their pets hunt in native wildlife.
-despite looking like a bit of a hippie, I don’t have time for any anti-science takes on vacines, feral species, climate denialism, etc.
-In a similar vein, the importance of First Nations sovereignty, immigrant & workers rights, and Igbt+ protections are not things that I will compromise on.
-I’m not a neat freak, but the one thing I can’t deal with is dishes in the sink and a messy kitchen. I love to keep communal spaces tidy, but draw the line at other people’s dishes
