I’m Angus, a final-year medical student having trained through the Rural Clinical School of Western Australia, and completed a year-long clinical placement in Port Hedland. I applied to medicine straight from school and have worked toward it steadily ever since. Alongside study I run a small evidence-based coaching and writing project and engage in fulfilling support work on weekends. I’ve previously volunteered with an NGO in the Andean foothills of South America. After internship I’ll be training toward rural generalist practice in emergency medicine and anaesthetics, with much of my career spent in regional and remote WA. My partner is a secondary English teacher with the WA Department of Education. Between a hospital roster and a teaching load, we’re two people in stable, essential public-service work - predictable incomes, and every reason to be settled, quiet and well regarded in our neighbourhood.
Outside work our interests are quiet. I play tennis regularly and enjoy competitive club matches, train at the gym most mornings and run most afternoons. I read a lot of literary fiction, have a daily meditation practice, an interest in Buddhist philosophy, and my idea of a big weekend is a film, usually Australian or Indigenous cinema or an anticipated blockbuster - and a home-cooked meal. I take a meticulous interest in health, sleep and nutrition, which is to say I’m the sort of person who notices when something needs attention and deals with it early. We don’t host parties or large gatherings; our social life is small dinners with friends and colleagues, and having done shift work we’re very conscious of neighbours ourselves.
I think we’d be a good fit for this property for a few reasons. Our income is stable and dual - an upcoming hospital position and a permanent teaching appointment aren’t subject to seasonal or contract fluctuation. We’re not looking for a short stay: we’d like to sign for [12/24] months and renew. Between clinical hours and school hours the house is empty for most of the working week and used calmly outside it. I’m detail-oriented by training and by temperament, so maintenance issues get reported promptly and honestly rather than left to worsen, the garden will be kept, and inspections will never be a surprise for anybody. Rent is the first automated transfer out of our account each cycle, ahead of everything else. We’re also straightforward to deal with - responsive to messages, flexible about access for inspections and trades, and honest about anything that comes up.
We’d genuinely love the chance to live here, and we’re happy to meet you at the property or provide any further documentation you need.
