Hi everyone,
We are Jade & Meg, and we are searching for a house mate in New Farm from the 22nd of February 2026, but can be flexible ½ weeks.
We have a gorgeous and super spacious house where all three bedrooms are on different levels, two generous living spaces across two levels, a large deck/courtyard & a porch out the front so very achievable to for everyone to be home but not all on top of each other, beautiful timber floors, aircon in every room and a bunch of natural light!. The shared living spaces of the house are pretty well furnished but you’re welcome to bring along some pieces with you.
Great location, we are a 10-minute walk from the valley, 5 minutes to Howard smith wharfs. Given its New Farm, parking is on the street, which can be a little bit of a pain but has never been too dramatic, worst-case scenario being you park down the street and walk less than 100m to the house, and typically settles down in the evening after work hours.
There is decent public transport around, with a bus stop about 70m away with 3 different buses coming very regularly towards the city. Fortitude Valley station is about 15-minute walk away, so train options are good too if travelling out further than the city.
The room available has a private bathroom, kitchenette and mini fridge, small wardrobe as well as its own entrance from the patio so completely private when needed if that’s what you’re after.
We are open to long or short term stays, (minimum 6 months.) At this stage it would be a private rental agreement, we are not looking to alter the lease at this stage, but if after 6 months if everyone is happy, super open to making official additions to the lease.
Internet works out to be about $8 a week, electric and gas comes out monthly and we split between the three house mates and tends to be on average $20 - $25 a week.
Given we are not altering the lease at this stage, we not asking for a damage deposit/bond, but am asking that if offered/accepting the room, two weeks of rent are provided up front for some insurance prior to move in shortly after being offered the space to ensure no one pulls out last minute.

About us ----
Jade
Im 27, born British but long converted Australian of 25 years. I’ve held the place for a little over 6 years and have been lucky enough to share it with a host of people of all different combo’’s, the most recent addition being my freshly migrated English sister who is living the dream on a tourist visa. Im work as a counsellor and sadly spend a majority of my remaining time working through my psych studies part time. I am both super social and introverted, most depending on the time of year. My studies are super important to me, so tend to be a lot more reserved during periods when my workload is high, however in general really enjoy catching up and vibing with my house mates. I work a mix of hours including late nights and tend to split my hours equally between the office and home. Any spare time I have mostly consists of wine and live gigs.
Megan
Im a 23 year old Brit, and just moved to Australia at Christmas time from Brighton, England in December to join my sister Jade. Overseas my background has been in the management of disability group care facilities, but since relocating I am still in the process of finding my next path! Obviously super fresh to the city and the house myself, my presence in the house may be variable, with plans to use Brisbane as a base but hopefully achieve a lot of travelling across different parts of Australia during the next two years I’m here. I’m very laid back and super open to meeting new people. My general loves/Interests being make up, fashion, travel, and adhering the Australian lifestyle of sunshine and drinking, but equally enjoy a relaxed night in to myself.
We both enjoy our own space, and with the rooms spread out across three levels it's easy to have peace and a low interaction day when needed. We are definitely looking for a bit of a fam vibe in the house, we don’t like living so independently that it feels like a house of strangers, so are looking for someone who is happy for a chat or glass of wine, occasional house dinner, but also appreciates their own space. We love to have a home where no one feels as though they need be secluded to their room in order to relax and v much recognize and value that sometimes we all need some alone time (which is very much respected).
Living in a share house environment, we are not overly pedantic, but expect that everyone cleans up after themselves and pitches in on monthly chores of keeping the place clean eg. floors, backyard, etc. as its a fairly large house and a can be a big job for one person if not working as a team.
Aside from this, we like to keep it pretty relaxed; clean up after yourself, and don’t live in a way that disrupts anyone else (wash up your dishes, don’t leave your clothes on the line for ages etc). The house is always tidy, but with everyone being super busy with work/life, keeping it looking like a show home is not always top priority, so the vibe is “clean but lived in”.
We are planning to meet anyone interested all in one day on Sat the 14th of February as this is the only day we both share off anytime from 10:30 onwards so shoot us a message with a little bit about yourself and your loose availability to meet (e.gmorning or arvo)
DISCLAIMERS:
- The self contained room being advertised is below mine (Jade) and although sound is relatively contained, with timbers floors there can be some noise travel up and down the stairs. I can sometimes work some late evenings from home, so if you’re super noise sensitive and an early riser, our place may not be the right fit. In general, we are both night owls, but never aiming to live in a way that disrupts others.
