About the property

Flatmate Wanted – Elwood (Rent from mid-February)

We’ve got a spare room becoming available in our Elwood apartment and are looking for the right person to join our little home community.

Important timing note:
We’re looking for someone who is ready to start paying rent from mid-February. You’re welcome to move in any time from that point, but rent would commence from mid-Feb regardless.

The place

Rent: $200 per week

Location: Elwood, right near the St Kilda Botanical Gardens

Short walk to Acland Street, cafés, bars and the beach

Close to tram lines and a nearby train station

Open-plan kitchen, living and dining area with a great communal feel

Bathroom shared with two others

The household
We’re a quiet, week-night working household. This is a non-party, non-drug, non-loud-noise home. We’re generally winding down by midnight and value a calm, respectful environment.

We deeply value a proactive approach to maintaining the home. That doesn’t mean perfection — it means:

Shared spaces being kept clear and uncluttered

Things being put back where they belong

Everyone naturally pitching in to keep the place functioning well

We’re looking for someone who enjoys contributing to a home rather than just doing the bare minimum — because that’s how we all approach it.

Shared-living vibe
We’ve got a strong community feel and enjoy sharing rather than splitting everything down to the last teaspoon.

That includes:

Board games, skateboards and shared items living in communal spaces

Communal shelves in the fridge and pantry

Sharing household basics like cooking oil, toilet paper, etc.

Very much a “what goes around comes around” approach, not a strict “this is mine, that is yours” household.

The vibe
This isn’t a “shut your door and disappear” house. We enjoy:

Debriefing about our days

Spending time in shared spaces

Playing video games or board games

Watching shows together occasionally

Quiet, social, and considerate is the sweet spot.

About us

Sam – high school science teacher at a nearby school. Into basketball, camping, hiking, biking, skateboarding, surfing, reading, gaming and chilling out.

Lance’s girlfriend also lives with us and is into arts, crafts and music.

Who we’re looking for

Late 20s to early 30s

Living full-time in Australia (PR preferred)

Non-party, non-smoker

No big gatherings or frequent late nights

Friends visiting occasionally is totally fine — we’d love to meet them

Someone who values shared living, mutual contribution, and a calm home

Comfortable paying rent from mid-February

If you’re after a peaceful, shared, genuinely lived-in home rather than a party house — and you like the idea of contributing to something communal — we’d love to hear from you.
