Hi! I rent this super cute oldie Edwardian characterful house (European feel) with a north facing back garden in Newport (near Newport Lakes) and am looking for a compatible housie to share it with me! Will it be you?

The house is clean, fresh and light, has timber floors, plenty of old school charm and character and a really lovely feel. I’ve left some of the old style floral and lace cottage curtains that the landlord had newly made for the house. The house, street and area are peaceful and quiet and you’re sure to get good sleep.

The available room is queen size and is sunny, light and airy with timber floors and comes furnished (see photos).

Lounge room has an Edwardian fireplace, casement windows and a sunny glassed-in verandah space with double glass sliding doors - perfect for dining, reading, looking at the sky and wondering.

Full bath with shower overhead. Separate toilet/laundry.

House has independent split systems in every room for heating/cooling.

About me:
I am a woman 50+, artistic, green-left politics, tertiary educated, plant-based, English/European background, environmentally-aware, non-smoker. I’m a friendly, warm, social, respectful, kind, considerate, fun, communicative, genuine, honest and reliable person and am looking to share with a person who is also.

I have a background in the arts, dance, social work and human rights activism and enjoy meeting people from different cultural backgrounds. I have broad interest in ideas, music, dance, culture, film, nature, animals, the environment and world affairs.

I am looking for a sociable person who likes to create a real home.

I enjoy sharing and have lots of house share experience. I am genuinely interested in others and their needs and interests. Appreciate both social and quiet times.

Up for cuppas and chats and a walk and a coffee. I generally make my own food. Saying that, on occasion happy to share a meal or tv show together, if something that interests you too.

Naturally more of a night owl than a rooster person. I respect other people’s schedules, activity, quiet, rest and sleep needs - as I would wish people to equally respect mine. Use headphones to be considerate and am flexible with functioning and sharing space.

I don’t drink alcohol for health reasons.
Covid: I’m fully vaccinated.

Quick 10 - 14 min walk to Newport train station and quick 20 min commute to city. Easy quick access to city, St Kilda, Carlton and everywhere by car. The beach is 5 minutes away at Williamstown and Altona. Newport is linked to the coastal paths. Close to Scienceworks, Seaworks, Grazeland.

Rent: $1256 per calendar month including bills internet/wifi, electricity, gas, water/sewerage.
Bond: $1256

Cleaning, house and garden upkeep: shared equally.
Shared consumables split 50/50. We can run a kitty for dishwashing detergent, hand soap, toilet paper etc.

Cleaning products: I only have eco non-toxic products in the house for both the environment and health. I can’t tolerate toxic chemicals, industrial cleaners like bleach or any other substances and avoid all poisons like fly spray etc as I’m sensitive and they’ll make me sick.

Pets: need approval of property owner and I need to be okay with the individual pet.

Housemate preferences: non smoker including outdoor. No drugs.
