About the property
About me: Hi, I am Tim! I’m a northside local in my forties with a dry wit and penchant for telling bad jokes. I’m passionate about 80’s Australian indie music, local and family history, storytelling, and mental health advocacy. Throughout the week, I can be found volunteering with Food Not Bombs, hosting a potluck, or indulging in Melbourne’s coffee culture. Later this year, I will be returning to studying but in the meantime, I am working on a personal and family history video project. I enjoy getting out on my electric bike, neighbourhood walks, having a beer at the pub and live music. For the past year, I’ve been sharing my home with Glenn. We’ve established a relaxed home together, but new opportunities beckon and I am looking for a new housemate.
About you: I am looking for someone who is social, self-aware, and enjoys having a chinwag. My ideal housemate is a friendly person who enjoys the social aspect of living with others but also respects boundaries and personal space. If you are relaxed, enjoy a yarn, and want to share some meals together throughout the week then this would be the perfect home for you.
About the house: My home is a sunny and spacious 3-bedroom unit in Preston. There is a light-filled kitchen and dining area with a separate large living room, one bathroom with a separate toilet and separate large laundry. There is a nice outdoor space with a garden, BBQ, shed, and under-utilised garage.
About the arrangement: This is a unique opportunity because I am provided funding through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to enable me to live independently in the community. This means I receive funding to subsidise the rent of my housemate in return for a level of informal support (primarily companionship and some reminders). I have a cleaner to support me to keep up my side of the household responsibilities. During the week, I have support workers for a few hours to assist me with various aspects of my life such as shopping, but I primarily move through the world independently.
