We're Gabi and Brian, a Chilean-Alaskan couple relocating to Hobart for Brian's master's program at UTAS starting in February.
Gabi is a general dentist from Chile, and I (Brian) am coming from a tiny town in Alaska where I've worked as a national park ranger, sea kayaking guide, and even been the vice mayor. Though currently I work in AI implementation for a tech company (kind of wild career transition I know)
We're easygoing, tidy, and respectful housemates who pay rent on time, value a peaceful home environment and a clean kitchen. We're non-smokers, very occasional drinkers, and appreciate both connecting with those around us, and the calmer moments around the house.
We hope to be exploring Tasmania's trails and waters on weekends, as we both love hiking, backpacking, and getting into nature is important to both of us. Gabi is training for a marathon and practices Ashtanga yoga, while Brian unwinds by playing classical guitar. We both love cooking and tend to eat most of our meals home-cooked. We're both food lovers and try to eat a local, mostly vegetarian diet.
We love the idea of housemates that grow into good friends, and are happy to share meals together and swap stories from our travels, but we're equally happy respecting each other's need for quiet time and personal space. It's a balance and we get that.
Whether it's joining for a spontaneous hike, sharing a tasty homemade curry or new fermentation, or simply enjoying a peaceful morning coffee at home, we're looking for flatmates who appreciate a balanced, respectful living environment.
Happy to chat and see if we could be good housemates!
