Hi my name is Evan! I am a 27 year old Canadian international student at the University of Melbourne where I am studying urban design.
I arrived in Australia just over a year ago on a Working Holiday Visa where I was able to have a wonderful time exploring the beautiful East Coast before settling into life in Melbourne and getting a part-time role as a concierge at one of the highrise apartments in Southbank. Since the beginning of the school year I have been pursuing my interest in all things Urbanism through studying urban design (specifically majoring in Landscape Architecture & Urban Planning) and living at the International House residential college.
I am now looking for a warm and vibrant share house somewhere in the Inner North (the place to be), where there is a sense of community and friendly interaction between house mates. Somewhere I can feel at home and has a cozy lived-in feel, and a bedroom I can decorate to my hearts content.
I briefly lived in Auckland, NZ for close to two years where I was fortunate enough to have a flat/share house of internationals that became lifelong friends now scattered across the globe (we used to call our dining table the UN haha). Something that reminds me of those fun times, though perhaps less wild than we were in those days, would be a dream come true.
As for my hobbies, I am a writer and worldbuilder first and foremost. I have been building and writing a planned book series in a world of my imagination for over a decade now and plan to have a complete draft of Book 1 finished over the summer. Also over the summer I hope to continue bouldering and take up dancing for my fitness. On pleasant days off I hope to go out and explore the city (either by myself or with a mate or two), taking a book and my sketching supplies so I can practice urban sketching and capture this beautiful city, or relaxing in a park or beach reading.
Openness, authenticity, and communication are important to me. I know how it can feel to feel like a stranger in your own home, or for animosities to ferment between flatmates, and will also do my best to foster good relationships and vibes in a household and respect established boundaries. If you too hold such values and priorities, I think we'd be a great fit and I'd love to come by and meet you.
Hit me up if you think we'd vibe. Cheers!
Evan,
(also neurospicy, so might be a bit quirky and idiosyncratic, but am always respectful and well-regulated! So long as random tangents and possibly deep dives into the nature of reality don't concern you, we should be good haha)
