Hi there! I'm Alicia, I'm 20 years old and currently living in Townsville, QLD looking for a private rental either by myself, a room in a shared house with other like-minded people, or a whole property with max 3 bedrooms.
Please let me explain my situation a little bit better for you to understand, I will try to narrow it down as much as I can.
I am 20 years old and have been independent since I was 16, I have always been working since 13 years old and have a stable income. I currently reside in Burdell with my Mum and younger sister through a real estate agent.
We have received an email from our property manager that the owner of our current rental potentially wishes to terminate our lease contract due to my Mum (roommate) going and buying a dog that was not prior approved or spoken about to our real estate or to myself. Our real estate had obviously discovered this pretty quickly and have enforced two breaches on our names for the unapproved pet.
My mother had the opportunity to resolve the matter within 14 days and instead chose to continue to lie to the property manager regarding the issue. As a result, I have now also had to suffer the consequences for someone else’s irresponsibility and have two breaches on my name for maximum 3 years which will be extremely detrimental towards my life and renting situation for a maximum of three years.
I have tried to resolve the issue directly via communication with my property manager and the RTA also offering proof i had no say or doing in getting the unapproved pet and wasn’t made aware, however they expressed that I was just as liable for the violation.
I cannot apply for another rental through a real estate because of this as many of you would understand that a lot of the time applications are automatically rejected if you have breaches on your name.
We do have another 3 year old dog who is also in our care and approved on the lease. He is a dachshund x poodle and I would immensely appreciate if you would consider him moving in with me as well, because my mother and sister may not be able to take him when we part ways and we would hate for him to be sent to the pound.
My lease is due to end late December 2025, however we are still waiting on word from the owner if he wants to terminate our lease earlier.
I would immensely appreciate any opportunities out there to help my current circumstances and am extremely communicative as well. I am a very hardworking, committed, clean and respectful tenant. Thank you so much.
