Hey! I'm Gideon, 23 years old, from Amsterdam, the Netherlands. From September to December/January 2025, I’ll be studying at UNSW as an exchange student. I'm a 3rd year undergraduate studying History and European Studies at the University of Amsterdam, and after the exchange, I’m planning to travel around Australia. I’m pretty easy-going and really looking forward to making the most of my time in Sydney. I don’t like staying cooped up in my room, and I’d much rather be out playing games, doing sports, or just enjoying other activities like hiking, partying or simply hanging out. Back home I've worked in healthcare, restaurants (pizziolo) and general stores, but I'm currently working as a bartender (both morning and evening), so I make quite some coffees, but I also serve quite a few beers in the evening, while I also love going out. Besides I'm also, of course, a student, so while I enjoy a bit of comfort, I definitely don’t need much luxury. For example, I love cooking or joining in on group meals, picnicking on the beach, or going along with whatever creative idea comes up. But, while I am of course on exchange, I am also looking for a part-time job, as I still need to make ends meet. About the travelling, I like to keep it adventurous: I’ve hitchhiked through the entire Balkans with strangers, traveled across Central America using mainly local buses (Chickenbus), and cycled (yes I am dutch..) to both Scandinavia and Northern Italy from Amsterdam! So, I’m always open to new challenges and won't complain much! And just so you know: I can also be an early bird and I'm not just a party animal! I enjoy playing many sports like football, running, tennis, padel, and more (no pressure though), and I like to read, watch movies, chat and study quite a lot! So sleep deprivation is something I've never heard of :) Excited for what's ahead and if this sounds like a good match, I'm happy to get in touch! Important note: - I'm looking for the period around September 1st (2025) to somewhere in mid/late December (2025) or early January (2026), but late January is also possible, just depends on how cozy the place is! - Vegetarian or vegan is great with me. - I don't smoke, but fine if others do it.
