No longer our forgotten sister out west, Perth has set her foot as one of the hot capital cities of Australia. With world class beaches, delicious wine and great universities, Perth has something for everyone.

From high-rise CBD apartments to quiet beachside townhouses, Perth has got your back for all of your share house wants and needs. Perth’s real draw card in the share house market comes from the ridiculously cheap rent compared to other eastern seaboard capital cities. You don’t even have to spend the earth to get a room in one of Perth’s most coveted locations.

Here’s what $250 (or less) can get you on the share house market.

Home and Away

Leafy, green and ready to reap the best of Fremantle’s renowned lifestyle, living at this White Gum Valley property is like being on a permanent holiday. Your room is enormous, has its own bathroom and is disconnected from the rest of the house. Tranquil Boo Park, the golf course and the beach are an easy cycle away. Better still, it’s only $200 a week, including bills.

Mad for Maddington

This beautiful and spacious home gives you enough room to spread out with a huge landscaped backyard, swimming pool, covered outdoor entertaining area and multiple communal spaces. Your room comes with a shared bathroom and free internet for all of $150. The South Metropolitan TAFE is only a short walk across the park and you’re nice and close to the local shopping centre and public transport.

Backyard Beach Babe

“Wake up to the sound of the waves every morning! Check the surf from your bedroom window with uninterrupted ocean views.” Honestly this ad sells itself. If taking your morning brew on the beach isn’t enough of a sell, this beachside townhouse comes with cafes, bars, skate park, pool, Coles and gyms all within walking distance. You’ll also benefit from the off street parking, built in robes and the inclusion of some bills in the rent; not to mention resident petmate, Tilly the cat. At $250 per week, it’s not the cheapest room around, but you can’t put a price on lifestyle.

Freo Hero

If Fremantle’s hipster vibe is more up your alley, this cosy High Street home is calling you. Featuring a peacefully leafy backyard and only one housemate, the four-bedroom property comes with a bed and furnishings (if required), not to mention off-street parking. Then there’s the location, only minutes from the Swan River and beaches, and within walking distance of dozens of local eateries, parks and public transport. At only $200 per week, which includes some bills, it’s a steal.

Wacko Subiaco

Subiaco continues to be one of Perth’s most desirable (therefore most expensive) rental suburbs, this hot piece of property is no exception. At $230 per week for your room, including some bills, it’s a fair ticket to an inner-city lifestyle. Better still, the room comes fully furnished. Less than 250m from Subiaco train station, the local shopping centre and more than 20 cafes and restaurants, there’s also a sunny garden courtyard and air con, leaving you wanting for nothing but some spare change in your bank account to get stuck into the night life.

Whether you’ve decided to Go West, are moving out of home or just looking for a fresh start, Perth has got you covered. For more info on where to share in Perth, check out our hot guide here.
