$280/week51 year old woman

Hi There, My name is Ceinwen. I was born in Canberra but have lived in the Inner West of Sydney for many years. I've worked and lived as a creative person (musician, music journalist, writer, social media manager, community radio host, and office administrator). My parents are 79 and 80 this year and respectfully live in Hughes and Weston. Given that none of us are getting any younger, I have decided that this might be the time to move home to Canberra for a while (four to six months) to be closer to my folks. Then, I can see if living back in Canberra works for me. In addition, my Landlord is selling our house in Newtown, and I was given 90 days verbally last week. He has yet to post the formal notice to vacate, which means I can afford to be flexible with the timing. However, if the price and opportunity are right, I will give three weeks' notice on my lease. My rent budget is around $250-$300, but I can stretch it for an ensuite, which would be fantastic. Ideally, I would prefer to move close to Civic or somewhere closer to Woden Valley between my parents. Why am I a good flatmate? I am generally a friendly, creative, good-natured, direct, and honest person with a big heart, good intentions, and an even bigger laugh. My best quality is my ability to make people laugh. I am told I am "funny" and bring wit and laughter to most settings, groups, friends, and family. I'm an ambivert (both extroverted and introverted), but it depends on the setting and the people I'm with. Of course, my main passions are music, creative writing, and cinema. I am a documentary nut and love comedy series, true crime, drama, sci-fi, etc.- anything with a compelling script. My other hobbies include attending gigs, reading, travelling, experiencing different cultures, learning new things, attending art galleries, exhibitions and museums, meeting new people, attending small gatherings, and socialising. I have travelled extensively and grew up predominantly overseas in various countries, attending school overseas and in Canberra. What am I looking for? Ideally, a clean and well-appointed shared house with a decent-sized self-contained one-bedroom with a built-in wardrobe and a leafy outside area. It can be furnished or unfurnished if necessary for the right place as I can store my stuff. Efficient heating and air conditioning would be excellent. We don't need heating often here in Sydney, but I know how cold Canberra is in the winter. I like a clean shower and love a clean bathtub for the occasional bath. I prefer a clean, uncluttered environment in the shared spaces. I'm also down to sharing cleaning duties and the odd shared meal or activity with my flatties, but I mostly keep things autonomous. My concept of an ideal shared activity in 2024 is a mutually agreed-upon flick or comedy series with a good-quality bottle of wine, a thrilling game of Scrabble or some sort, and the odd small house party/gathering. I can cook a few things, or so I'm told, though I am not gifted or particularly obsessed. I also don't need to be best friends with my flatmates; I need goodwill, civility, consideration, boundaries and mindful behaviour. I am considerate of those around me and value self-awareness. My general routine on weeknights is usually enjoying alone time and decompressing in the serene surroundings of my room. A nook where I can sometimes work remotely, write creatively, watch movies, and snuggle under the doona with my two adorable and affectionate senior cats after dinner. At this point in my life, I don't "party" much or bring random people back from the pub after a drunken bender, and I'm not looking for that kind of environment. I barely drink these days, except for a nice glass or two of red on a colder night with dinner. I enjoy relatively quiet, peaceful spaces during the week to recharge in solitude. I generally get more lively on weekends, have a couple of friends over or go out to a gig or dinner or whatever. I love to play music at home and have broad, eclectic taste. I try to keep it down to a dull roar. So that's me in a brief nutshell! Contact me if you haven't fallen asleep yet and my profile resonates with you. I don't want us to waste each other's time. Get in touch if I sound like a fit for your household. All the best out there, Cheers, Ceinwen Brown
