$300/week•23 year old woman
Hey! I'm Leora, and I'm a fun-loving, outgoing, adventurous travleholic with a lot of love for the world – however, I am currently working hard to finish my undergrad. I'm studying a Bachelor of Arts at Macquarie University, with a double major in Creative Writing and Anthropology.
Before this year, I was living in Paris, working as a nanny and barista (I am a mega coffee snob – and much to my dismay, Zendaya walked into my coffee shop a week after I left). I lived there for three years, travelling any chance I got (shout out to Ryanair) and making lifelong memories. I started my degree while I was there (online and part-time), but moved back to Australia at the end of last year, as I missed the beach, and mostly my family. I was living with them for 6 months on the South Coast, catching up on life stories and re-learning to surf.
Now I am living in Sydney, focusing on my studies (with face to face classes) and enjoying city life! I am currently subletting a place in Surry Hills in a 4-room share house - which I have absolutely been loving. I have really loved the roommate experience, and I really feel like these girls have become true friends, and I hope to continue that with my new place! In essence, I am looking for a home, with like-minded, open people who aren't afraid for a chat or a movie night. I love to cook, so would always be open for 'family dinners' and meal prep, and I am very partial to a game night here or there (my favourites are Catan, Cluedo and Ticket to Ride – actually, anything other than Monopoly...). Although I love 'people time', I love 'me' time as well – I got very used to living by myself in France, and am very content with my own company. I would love a balanced mix of social and quiet, where I can feel comfortable with those around me, but am able to 'seclude' myself to my room when I need – especially during exam time. I am also quite organised, and I love a clean and tidy house.
So, here's a quick pitch of me if you're still unsure:
• I love to hike. I hiked through the Dolomites, Swiss, French and Albanian Alps as well as the Atlas Mountains in Morocco – but my ultimate dream is Nepal.
• I also love to travel. My top countries at the moment include Nepal, Kyrgyzstan and Tanzania – but honestly, everywhere is my goal
• I love coffee – a good specialty hand brew or cold brew is my go to
• I love to read – and I love to write, my dream (amongst many) would be to become a novelist
• I enjoy running – I completed my first half marathon this year
• I play the guitar – somewhat well, and I don’t mind singing along, but it is mostly in private. It’s the one hobby I have that’s really just for me
• I paint and draw – not as much as I’d like, but I have copious amounts of materials. And when I do, I really enjoy it.
• I love film and TV – I did a short film course in France, and like to think I’m a cinema buff, but unfortunately most high-brow films you mention, I’ll probably just say are on my watch list …
• I love to yap – I’m a big talker, and somehow moving abroad turned me from an introvert to extrovert – whether its respectful gossip, cheeky banter, political rants or philosophical discourse, I’m here for it. But as I said – I also enjoy some space, and will always respect others’ need for it.
• I am very outdoorsy, so I love a good nature escape, especially camping or through-hiking
• But I also love a bit of city life – I enjoy fashion, and trapsing through boutiques, admiring museums and experiencing the culture of the hustle-bustle
• I’m not much of a drinker. Most of the time I’m sober, but I am partial to a good cocktail or a natural wine on occasion
• I personally don’t dabble in drugs or smoking (tried a few cigarettes in Paris, but my lungs didn’t agree with me) – but would never shame anyone for doing so. My one requirement would be to avoid doing so in the house.
I think that’s enough for a quick snapshot of me, or else I’ll keep rambling. I’m looking forward to hearing from you, and hopefully make some new friends.
